GAME RECAP

Travis Best scored 18 points to lead six players in double figures as the Indiana Pacers cruised to their third straight win, a 109-83 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Chris Mullin and Jalen Rose scored 16 points apiece for the Pacers, who led by as many as 30 points. Indiana has won consecutive road games by a combined 54 points to climb to the .500 mark for the third time this season.

The Pacers shot 55 percent (38-of-69) from the field while holding the Bucks to 34 percent (31-of-90). Indiana held a 50-38 rebounding advantage and its reserves outscored the Milwaukee bench, 54-34.

"For awhile we didn't play as well as I'd like, but I can't complain," Indiana coach Larry Bird said. "Every run they made, we came back at them with a run of our own. We have a ways to go, but it's coming around."

Glenn Robinson scored 18 points and Terrell Brandon 15 for the Bucks, who had a four-game home winning streak snapped.

"There is still no excuse for the way we played," Robinson said. "We have seventy some games left and we need to bounce back. This is one game when we did not shoot the ball well and we need to keep our heads up."

Milwaukee's last lead came at 4-2. Indiana took the lead for good at 7-4 on a three-pointer by Mullin just 100 seconds into the game. Mullin scored 10 points in the first quarter as the Pacers grabbed a 26-20 lead.

A dunk by Mark Pope extended the lead to 33-22 with 7:29 left in the second quarter. Rose scored nine points in the period, which ended with Indiana holding a 48-35 lead.

A layup by Brandon cut the deficit to 54-45 with 8:13 left in the third quarter, but the Pacers responded with nine straight points. Mullin scored four in the burst, including a 15-foot jumper that made it 63-45 with 6:28 left in the period.

Indiana led 80-58 entering the fourth quarter and opened its largest lead at 94-64 on a layup by Rose with 8:04 remaining.

"We have a veteran lineup to come off the bench and put points on the board," Rose said. "Tonight we did that. This was an opportunity to prove we can win with our bench."

Rik Smits scored 12 points, Mark Jackson added 11 and 10 assists and Reggie Miller scored 10 points for the Pacers, who were 31-of-36 from the line. Tyrone Hill had 13 points and 10 boards for the Bucks.
