GAME RECAP

Ray Allen scored 24 points and Terrell Brandon added 17 of his 19 in the second half as the Milwaukee Bucks snapped a 17-game losing streak against the Miami Heat with a 93-87 victory.

Brandon and Tyrone Hill combined for 19 points in the fourth quarter, when Milwaukee held Miami to just 13 points. The Bucks beat the Heat for the first time since January 28th, 1993.

"I wasn't aware of it (the streak) until I read the notes," Brandon said. "We have a lot of pride in ourselves and we wanted to end the streak. It's difficult to be traded, but once I excepted the deal, it wasn't long before I felt comfortable. The weather's the same."

"We didn't play with fire," Miami coach Pat Riley said. "We kept going down hill and lost every semblance of order on offense. We tried to take the easy way out."

Tim Hardaway scored 26 points and Isaac Austin added 23 and 10 rebounds for the Heat, who scored 38 first-quarter points but just 49 thereafter, including 29 for the entire second half. Miami had a three-game winning streak snapped.

"I can't tell you what happened, we just folded," Austin said. "I'm very disappointed. We let them hang around and they hit some tough shots."

Miami shot a dismal 30 percent (10-of-33) from the floor in the second half. Jamal Mashburn, The Heat's second-leading scorer at 18.4 points a game, was held to 10 on 3-of-9 shooting.

"I don't think we played well for 48 minutes," Mashburn said. "Maybe it was a let down after the Lakers and Magic. There wasn't a lot of intensity. I was pressing and I got frustrated at times."

Milwaukee scored 11 straight points to take an 86-79 lead with 6:22 remaining but Miami returned the favor by scoring the next seven points, capped by a 10-foot jump shot by Hardaway, to knot the score at 86-86 with 2:45 to go.

The Bucks then ran off six unanswered points to grab the lead for good. Hill ignited the spurt with a pair of free throws and a 12-foot jumper. After Voshon Lenard and Hardaway missed three-pointers, Brandon drained two free throws with 27 seconds left to cap the burst.

"It was a good win," Hill said. "We showed some mental toughness. Everyone stepped up tonight."

Ervin Johnson grabbed 10 rebounds for the Bucks, who shot 51 percent (36-of-71) from the field and held a 40-35 advantage on the boards.

Miami shot 43 percent (30-of-70) from the field, including 5-of-19 from beyond the arc. The Heat had 12 steals and forced 22 turnovers that turned into 27 points.

Former Buck Eric Murdock's free throw gave Miami its largest lead at 45-28 with 8:18 left in the second quarter. The Bucks closed to 58-49 at halftime.
