GAME RECAP

Chris Webber and Tracy Murray scored 22 points apiece as the Washington Wizards rolled to another win at the MCI Center, 118-91 over the Toronto Raptors.

Calbert Cheaney matched a season high with 21 points and Rod Strickland chipped in with 17 for the Wizards, who are 8-0 in their new arena. They are averaging nearly 106 points per game in the MCI Center and have scored at least 114 four times.

Damon Stoudamire scored 19 points and Doug Christie chipped in 18 for the Raptors, who have dropped seven of their last nine games and fell to 2-14 on the road.

"This is frustrating and disappointing," Stoudamire said. "I don't know where it's going to go."

Washington took the lead late in the first quarter, outscoring Toronto 18-10 over the final 3:44 to assume a 35-28 lead behind nine points from Webber.

"I'm feeling good, we're all in a groove," Webber said. "We came back hard after a slow first quarter. We're feeling pretty comfortable here now."

The Raptors closed within 51-48 midway through the second quarter before the Wizards put the game away. Cheaney and Strickland had consecutive baskets to push the lead to 55-48 with 3:45 left in the half. Cheaney followed with another jumper and Strickland converted a three-point play before Murray dunked to cap an 11-0 burst and extend Washington's lead to 62-48 with 45 seconds remaining. The Wizards led at halftime, 65-51.

Toronto never got closer than the halftime margin. The Wizards led by 23 points twice in the third period, the final time at 89-66 on a dunk by Cheaney. Webber had nine points and Cheaney eight in the quarter, which ended with the Wizards ahead, 93-73.

"We wanted to jump out and be aggressive tonight," Cheaney said. "In the second half we cracked down on our defense and created turnovers."

The lead ballooned to 115-84 on Darvin Ham's jumper with 1:25 to play.

Terry Davis scored 11 points and Juwan Howard finished with 10 for the Wizards, who shot 60 percent (46-of-77) from the field.

Rookie Tracy McGrady scored 13 points and John Wallace had 12 for the Raptors, who shot 43 percent (36-of-83) and were outrebounded, 43-30.
