GAME RECAP

Martin Muursepp scored a career-high 24 points and rookie Chris Anstey added a season-high 20 as the Dallas Mavericks snapped a three-game home losing streak with a 119-109 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers, who have lost seven straight on the road.

It was a season-high point total for the Mavericks, who have recorded back-to-back victories for the first time since the second and third games of the season.

Muursepp, who hails from Estonia, also had a career-best eight rebounds for Dallas, which broke a four-game skid against the Clippers. Anstey, who is from Australia, saw extended playing time due to the absence of Shawn Bradley, who sat out with a groin injury.

"I just happened to make some baskets, no big deal," said Muursepp. "I have to go to work tomorrow and try to do it again."

"It was just great experience for our young guys," said Dallas coach Don Nelson. "I'm going to play them in these types of situations. It couldn't get any better."

Khalid Reeves added 14 points, five of which fueled a 13-0 third-quarter surge that built an 84-59 bulge with 4:14 to go.

Lamond Murray netted 24 points and Maurice Taylor 21 for Los Angeles, which pulled within six points with three minutes left after trailing by as many as 29 in the second half.

"With eight minutes left we were still down by double digits, so we had to start firing the ball up and try to get an up-tempo game," said Murray. "I think the trapping worked."

"It got a little bit scary in the fourth quarter," Muursepp admitted. "When the lead was cut down to six, it was still a tough game."

Both Muursepp and Anstey did their damage off the bench. Muursepp played 28 minutes, hitting 10-of-17 from the field. Anstey got the bulk of the work in the middle, hitting 6-of-12 shots and all eight free throws. Eric Riley, who started at center, missed just one of six shots and totaled 11 points and nine rebounds.

Dallas committed just 14 turnovers while turning 21 Clippers' miscues into 31 points. The Mavs, who have won three of their last four contests, hit 50 percent (47-of-94) of their shots.

The Mavericks took control early and led 30-22 after one quarter. Riley and Michael Finley scored seven points apiece.

Dallas had its 59-52 halftime edge cut to five points when a bucket by Murray early in the third quarter made it 61-56. But that was as close as Los Angeles got as the Mavs answered with a 23-3 surge, including a closing 13-0 burst.

Reeves, who had six assists and one turnover, began the run with a three-pointer with 7 1/2 minutes to go. Cedric Ceballos scored four of his 17 points in the burst, which Anstey capped at 4:14 for an 84-59 bulge.

"It was a great opportunity for everybody to play," said Ceballos. "Once we start packing the stands, it'll be more exciting. The fans can't help to give up some appreciation for effort and positive attitude."

Isaac Austin's short hook with 3:57 left broke a four-minute scoreless string for Los Angeles, which fell behind 90-61 on a free throw by Finley with 2:38 left in the third quarter.

Austin had 16 points and seven rebounds and Murray added nine boards for the Clippers, who shot just 4-of-14 from behind the arc but 53 percent (41-of-78) overall.

The Clippers have not won on the road since January 15th at New Jersey. They are 4-24 away from home on the season.
