GAME RECAP

Derek Harper hit a 22-foot jumper from the left side with 14.3 seconds remaining in overtime, lifting the Orlando Magic to their seventh win in nine games, 91-89 over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Brevin Knight's layup with 32 seconds left in overtime lifted Cleveland into an 89-89 tie. On the next possession, Harper drained the winning shot with his foot on the three-point line.

"They doubled Nick which we knew they would do and I was wide open when I took the shot," Harper said. "They were trying to get somebody there and I felt like the shot was going in the minute I let it go."

Wesley Person had a chance to win it for the Cavaliers with 1.8 seconds to play, but he double-pumped on a three-pointer from the left wing and missed badly.

"It was a screen situation," Person said. "I knew when I came off it, he was going to come at me. I was gonna shoot it quick, but the big guy stepped at me and I thought he was going to block the shot. I didn't get the look I thought I was going to get."

Nick Anderson had 25 points and seven rebounds and Bo Outlaw added 22 and eight for Orlando, which has won six of seven at home and pulled within one game of Cleveland for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

"It's pretty much exactly kind of like the game we expected," Orlando coach Chuck Daly said. "I thought it was going to be a very tight game. They've got some terrific players and outstanding coaching."

Derek Anderson scored 20 points, Shawn Kemp had 19 and Zydrunas Ilgauskas collected 14 and 10 boards for the Cavaliers, who suffered their fourth straight road loss.

"I was pleased with the effort. When you play well, things happen for you, good things happen," Cleveland coach Mike Fratello said. "You get a foul and you go to the line and make the foul shot when you have to and you get a shot like that off the glass. Those things happen when you are in a groove and you are playing good."

Cleveland held a 65-62 lead with 9:50 remaining before the Magic used a 16-6 run, capped by Outlaw's two free throws with 3:18 to go, to grab a 78-71 advantage. But the Cavs responded with a 12-2 burst for an 83-80 lead before Nick Anderson banked home a three-pointer with 3.9 seconds left, forcing overtime.

"In this league, everybody's got a 50-50 chance if you try," Anderson said. "It was a tough shot. Just tried to get it off, got it off quick, got it off the glass and banked it in."

"Throughout his career, Nick Anderson has hit shots like that," Kemp said. "It doesn't surprise me at all. Not just this season, but since I have known him he has been able to step up and hit big shots like that. That's just another element to his repertoire."

Nick Anderson opened the scoring in overtime with a layup but Kemp sank four straight free throws to give Cleveland an 87-85 edge with 2:01 to go. Layups by Anderson and Derek Strong put the Magic up 89-87 with 45 seconds remaining before Knight tied it.

The Cavs bridged the first and second quarters with a 22-4 run for a 31-22 lead with 6:22 left in the half. Derek Anderson scored 10 points in the run as Cleveland took a 39-38 edge into the break.

Horace Grant had 14 points and seven rebounds and Strong finished with nine points for Orlando, which shot 46 percent (32-for-69) from the field and made 23-of-30 free throws.

Person contributed 11 points and Cedric Henderson added 10 and six rebounds for the Cavs, who shot 42 percent (33-for-78) from the floor.
