GAME RECAP

Cliff Robinson scored 22 points and Antonio McDyess added 20 as the Phoenix Suns defeated the Golden State Warriors for the seventh straight time, cruising to a 101-77 victory.

Robinson scored five of his eight third-quarter points in a key 11-2 run that built the lead to 72-56. Jason Kidd, who had nine assists, capped the run with a fast-break jumper and scored 11 of his 15 points in the period, helping the Suns to a 77-60 advantage.

"We came out in the third quarter and took care of business," Kidd said. "That's the way the game is supposed to be played because you're supposed to beat a ballclub like Golden State."

"Right now it's all we can ask of ourselves, to take care of the games that we should take care of, especially here on our home floor," Robinson said.

McDyess had 12 of his 20 points in the final quarter as the Suns were never threatened en route to their third straight win.

Rex Chapman, the Suns' leading scorer, returned after missing the last four games with a sore right foot. He started and played 25 minutes, finishing with just four points on 2-of-8 shooting.

Jim Jackson finished with 21 points and Erick Dampier collected 15 and 14 rebounds for the Warriors, who have lost seven of their last nine games. Golden State has lost its last six trips to Phoenix, where it has not won since March 12th, 1995.

"It's plain and simple, we just didn't come out and play the second half like we did in the first half," Dampier said. "We took a lot of bad shots that we had no business taking. It's not like we are a great shooting team, so we depend on other things to create easy baskets for us."

The game was knotted, 16-16, when the Suns reeled off a 14-2 run bridging the first and second quarters. Kevin Johnson, who had 10 points, scored the final four points of the opening period to give Phoenix a 24-18 lead.

Danny Manning scored the first four points of the second period before Johnson fed Robinson for a dunk, building a 30-18 lead. Manning had 10 of his 15 points in the period, guiding Phoenix to a 50-40 edge at intermission.

The Suns handed out 34 assists while committing just eight turnovers. Golden State scored just four points off those miscues and committed 19 turnovers, resulting in 27 points for Phoenix.

"That was a good win, 34 assists to seven turnovers is a good indication of good decision-making and good ball movement," Suns coach Danny Ainge said. "Out of the 48 minutes, I thought we played really good for about three-quarters of it. We had some lapses, but I liked the energy."

The Warriors shot just 36 percent (29-of-80) while the Suns hit 47 percent (41-of-88) from the field. Phoenix has held Golden State under 80 points in winning all three meetings this season.

"They shut us down three times, we have not been a great offensive team all year," Warriors coach P.J. Carlesimo said. "They're aggressive and we got down the floor early when we were defending them. We did a real good job working the offensive boards, we just didn't get anything from them."
