Game Story

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Shooting 50 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free-throw line is enough to beat playoff teams, let alone the Los Angeles Clippers.

Glenn Robinson had 24 points and 10 rebounds and Sam Cassell added 20 points and nine assists as the Milwaukee Bucks remained perfect at home this season with a 101-93 triumph over the Clippers.

"We're still trying to get confidence in our rotation," said Milwaukee coach George Karl. "It was a solid win, but we needed more pizzazz against San Antonio and Utah. I'm happy with the win. I hope we can move forward against two tough teams in Utah and San Antonio."

Robinson made 8-of-19 shots from the field and 6-7 from the line as Milwaukee shot 50 percent (39-of-78) and 80 percent (20-of-24) respectively. Ray Allen, Cassell's backcourt partner, had 19 points and six assists to help the Bucks improve to 3-0. They defeated Los Angeles for the third straight time.

"There wasn't a lot of energy at any point," said Allen. "They got a lot of offensive rebounds and it came out to us taking them down offensively. We made shots, but there wasn't anything excitable going on. It's hard for the fans to get into it."

Derek Anderson had 27 points and seven rebounds for the Clippers before running into Danny Manning's pick and leaving in the opening minute of the fourth quarter. Anderson, who made 11-of-21 shots, suffered a possible concussion.

"Our guys gave me a lot of effort tonight," said Los Angeles coach Chris Ford. "They kept pushing it, but we couldn't get over the hump. We just couldn't get over the hump. We just couldn't knock down the open jumpers."

Rookie Lamar Odom collected 22 points and 10 rebounds for Los Angeles, which held a 54-43 advantage on the boards. Brian Skinner had 10 points and 17 rebounds for the Clippers, who shot only 39 percent (37-for-95) and fell to 0-3 on the road.

"When Derek went down, it hurt us because he was having a great game," Odom said. "What hurt us in the fourth quarter was execution, free-throw shooting and turnovers. We had four straight turnovers in one stretch."

The lead changed hands 24 times before the Bucks went ahead for good, 66-65, on a tip-in by Ervin Johhnson with 2:50 remaining in the third quarter. Johnson had seven points and five rebounds.

Vinny Del Negro capped a 10-0 run with a 19-footer to give Milwaukee its biggest lead, 86-73, with 8:28 left in the final period. Del Negro had four of his eight points in the run.

Los Angeles chipped away at the deficit and got as close as 96-93 when former Buck Eric Murdock made two free throws with 2:17 to go. Robinson answered with a 17-footer 15 seconds later and Tyrone Nesby, who shot just 3-for-16, missed a short jumper at the other end. The Clippers had another chance, but Odom missed two free throws with 1:36 left and Robinson converted a pair 17 seconds later for a 99-93 lead.

The Clippers received points from only two bench players, Skinner and Murdock, who had 13.
