Game StoryAUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- Grant Hill scored 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Jerome Williams added 17 and 12 as the Detroit Pistons handed the slumping Los Angeles Clippers their eighth straight loss with a 107-83 victory.
Jerry Stackhouse added 23 points for Detroit, which won for the third time in four games and moved back to .500 at 10-10. Detroit has taken the last seven meetings with Los Angeles.
"It was important for us to get a win before we go out west," Hill said. "They made a couple of shots and they had a few runs, but we were able to push it up to about 15 or 20 points. We're happy with the win."
Michael Olowokandi led five Clippers in double figures with 16 points and Derek Anderson contributed 14.
Los Angeles is in the midst of its longest losing streak since a 17-game skid to start the lockout-shortened 1998-99 season. The Clippers have not won since a 100-95 triumph over the New York Knicks on November 23.
"We have to get better," Maurice Taylor said. "When you look at the talent on this team, we should be able to win some games. We just have to learn to play as a team and come together and not make the same mistakes every single game."
Anderson sank 1-of-2 free throws as Detroit's lead was cut to 55-47 with 10:10 left in the third quarter. The Pistons went on an 11-2 run as Stackhouse scored four of his 10 third-quarter points and Lindsey Hunter had five of his 13 points, including a 26-footer with 7:42 to play to extend the advantage to 66-49.
Detroit took its largest lead of the quarter at 76-55 when Hill made two free throws with four minutes to go in the period. The Pistons shot 54 percent (13-of-24) from the field in the third quarter and took an 80-61 lead to the final period.
Los Angeles got within 89-76 with 6:25 left on Charles Jones' 3-pointer. But the Pistons scored the next six points as Williams had four, including a dunk with five minutes left. The Clippers got no closer than 15 points thereafter.
"It's the same scenario for this team," Los Angeles coach Chris Ford said. "We played hard for a while in the first quarter, and then all of a sudden, they threw this defense at us and we couldn't sustain an offensive attack. Once teams get up on us, we find it difficult to come back."
Detroit shot 48 percent (41-of-84), held a 52-37 rebounding edge and dished out 28 assists.
The Pistons led 23-20 after one quarter and, after Los Angeles' Tyrone Nesby scored the first basket of the second period, went on a 10-0 burst over a 3:05 span. Stackhouse had five points in the run and John Crotty's 16-footer gave Detroit a 33-22 advantage with 8:36 to play.
Terry Mills scored five of his nine points in a 7-0 run as the Pistons opened a 44-31 lead with 3:37 left in the first half. The Clippers closed to 50-42 at intermission.
