Game Story

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Rookie Lamar Odom hit a leaner with 11.9 seconds remaining to give the Los Angeles Clippers an incredible 92-91 come-from-behind victory over the Golden State Warriors.

The Clippers, who trailed 91-84 with 1:11 remaining, scored the last eight points. Odom finished with 23, including nine in the final quarter, and added 13 rebounds.

"Christmas came early for us tonight," Clippers coach Chris Ford said. "It was a tough game and both teams were undermanned. We were fortunate enough to come out with a win. I feel for P.J. (Carlesimo)."

"Right now, I'm not happy just for me; I'm happy for my team," Odom said. "I could go 0-for-40 and still love it if we win. I had the confidence to know I can make that shot. I just took the free throws one at a time, too."

After Warriors guard John Starks hit a 3-pointer with 1:21 left, Chris Mills fouled Odom, then received consecutive technicals for arguing the call.

"If I had to do it again, I hopefully wouldn't do it the same way," said Mills, who scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Odom sank a pair of free throws and Troy Hudson made both technicals to bring the Clippers within 91-88 with 71 seconds left. Tyrone Nesby's dunk off a turnover by Starks made it 91-90 with 0:52 to play.

Warriors rookie Vonteego Cummings missed a 17-footer from the left baseline with 28 seconds to play to set up the game-winner. After Odom's leaner, Golden State had a chance to win it, but could not get a shot off before the buzzer.

Hudson scored 20 points and Michael Olowokandi added 16 for the Clippers, who rebounded from Tuesday's humiliating 95-68 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

"This was a big game, coming off that loss to the Lakers," Hudson said. "There's no telling what it would have done to us if we hadn't gotten this win."

Tony Farmer tied a season-high with 19 points and Starks added 18 for the Warriors, who shot 39 percent (37-of-94) from the floor.

"It was a tough loss," Farmer said. "The last couple of situations and possessions, we didn't get anything out of them. Lamar made a great move, but it shouldn't have come down to that."

The Warriors were without point guard Mookie Blaylock and veteran forward Terry Cummings, who were placed on the injured list prior to the game. Blaylock is suffering from a calf strain while Cummings is out with an injured groin.

The Clippers played without guard Derek Anderson and forward Brian Skinner. Both are recovering from sprained left ankles.
