(ADDING INFORMATION, QUOTES)

NEW JERSEY 102, ORLANDO 92 --------------------------

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Stephon Marbury had 21 points and 13 assists and the New Jersey Nets used a late run to defeat the Orlando Magic, 102-92, and set a franchise record with their ninth straight home victory.

With the game tied 92-92 with 3:15 remaining, Marbury completed a 3-point play to put New Jersey ahead to stay. The basket ignited a 10-0 run for the Nets, who eclipsed their previous home winning streak mark of eight games set in the 1993-94 season.

"Guys responded. (Orlando) made a run and we stood up," said Marbury, who finished one rebound short of his first career triple-double. "We showed a lot of heart and a lot of character. Guys are playing hard and smart and together. We're playing team defense. Its a big difference from how guys were playing in the beginning (of the season)."

"Down the stretch, we took one of those quick shots," Magic coach Doc Rivers said. "Marbury's 3-point play was probably the turning point of the game."

Jamie Feick scored a season-high 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for New Jersey, which has won four straight games for the first time this season. The Nets have turned around their season, posting a 10-3 mark since a 2-15 start.

"We struggled early on," Feick said. "We lost a couple of close games that brought our confidence down. Now, we're winning some close games and our confidence has come around."

New Jersey won 10 games in December (10-5), its highest total in the month since the 1985-86 season (10-4).

Tariq Abdul-Wahad scored 18 points and set a career high with 17 rebounds for the Magic, who have lost three straight on the heels of a season-best five game winning streak.

Abdul-Wahad hit a turnaround jumper from the left side that tied the game at 92-92 but the Magic went scoreless for the final 3:15.

"Tonight was the first night in a while I didn't know if we played extremely smart," Rivers said. "We just made too many unforced turnovers took some ill-advised shots."

Keith Van Horn's driving layup gave New Jersey a 90-84 cushion with 5:35 remaining. But two 3-pointers by Darrell Armstrong around a basket by Marbury cut the deficit to 92-90 at the 3:44 mark.

The Nets led 54-50 at halftime and used an 11-2 spurt to take a 65-54 advantage with 9:26 left. New Jersey hit three 3-pointers during the run, with Kendall Gill making two and Keith Van Horn one.

Orlando scored the next seven points, highlighted by two 3-pointers by Armstrong, to close to 67-63 midway through the period. The Magic trailed 76-73 entering the final quarter.

Van Horn, who missed Tuesday's game against the Knicks with the flu, added 20 points for New Jersey, which set season highs with 57 rebounds, 30 assists and 110 shots.

Armstrong scored 18 points for Orlando, which committed 20 turnovers and shot 42 percent (38-of-90). 1:18AM ET
