Game Story

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- Chris Webber had 34 points and 19 rebounds and Jon Barry sank a critical 3-pointer in the closing seconds as the Sacramento Kings won their third straight game, 107-103 over the San Antonio Spurs.

Mario Elie intercepted a bad pass from Jason Williams and made a three-point play with 1:04 left to cut the deficit to 103-100. Following a couple of scoreless possessions, Barry doubled the lead to six on a 26-footer with 12 seconds left.

Tim Duncan nailed his second-career 3-pointer with 9.5 seconds left to bring San Antonio within three but Williams' free throw with 4.5 seconds remaining iced the contest.

"We always keep fighting and we're a team that never gives up," Williams said. "We always think we can come back as long there is time left on the clock. We know we are going to dig ourselves holes sometime, but this team just keeps playing and trying."

Williams scored 21 points and Nick Anderson added 10 as the Kings won their sixth straight home game and were victorious for just the second time in eight contests against the Spurs.

Duncan had 33 points and 20 rebounds for his first career 30-20 game and David Robinson added 17 points as San Antonio's four-game winning streak was snapped.

Sacramento outrebounded San Antonio 59-48, including 23-9 on the offensive boards, which did not make Spurs coach Gregg Popovich happy.

"I could have given them some help on Webb and I didn't tonight. So that and the offensive rebounds really put us away tonight," he said. "I thought our effort was great, both teams got after it and down the stretch they obviously shot it very, very well."

The Kings survived a horrid stretch in the fourth quarter in which they did not score for over four minutes. But the Spurs could only manage four free throws from Duncan in that time, leaving them with a 95-94 deficit with 4:06 left.

Webber took over from there as he scored Sacramento's next eight points against Duncan for a 103-97 cushion with 2:03 left. Webber scored 20 points in the second half and shot 13-of-27 overall from the floor.

"This is the type of game that you really want to win and it hurts to lose, but while you're playing it feels like what basketball is supposed to be," Webber said.

"He played a great game," Duncan said. "He shot the ball well down he stretch and those are shots that on any given night on a usual basis, I don't give up a couple of those at the top of the key."

Divac added 10 points for the Kings, who shot just 39 percent (39-of-101) from the floor and 7-of-22 from 3-point range.

"It really kind of went along with what we talked about at shootaround today," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "We needed to make this game like a playoff game. We had to understand that if we got up or we got down, we had to keep playing our game."

Robinson, who picked up his fourth foul in the third quarter, was held to just nine points on 7-of-13 shooting for the Spurs, who shot 43 percent (34-of-79).

San Antonio used an 18-4 burst spanning the first and second quarters to gain a 34-26 cushion with 10:49 left in the first half. Duncan scored 10 points in that run and closed the half with 20.
