Game Story

INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Reggie Miller made sure there would be no carryover from Monday's dramatic loss.

Indiana's marquee player scored 29 points and the Pacers' defense stymied one of the top offenses in the league, posting a 106-84 rout of the Milwaukee Bucks.

"You've got to understand that Milwaukee's philosophy is that they are going to double down on the post and give you opportunities to play from long range," Miller said. "That almost works into our hands."

Miller made 9-of-20 shots, 8-of-8 free throws and a trio of 3-pointers.

Reserves Austin Croshere, Sam Perkins and Travis Best scored 12 points apiece as the Pacers' bench outscored the Milwaukee reserves, 44-19. The total effort guaranteed Indiana's 13th straight home win and helped erase any memories of Monday's last-second loss at Minnesota.

The 13 straight wins at Conseco Fieldhouse is the second-longest home winning streak in Indiana NBA's history. They won 17 in a row at Market Square Arena between December 5, 1995 and February 4, 1996. The Pacers also have won six straight and 21 of 28 from the Bucks.

"We play pretty well in here," Pacers coach Larry Bird said. "I think our guys have settled in here."

Glenn Robinson scored 25 points and Ray Allen added 16 for the Bucks, who entered the game third in the league at scoring at just over 104 points per game. Milwaukee shot just 38 percent (34-of-89) in posting its lowest point total since December 2 against New York.

"It wasn't one of our better offensive nights," Robinson said. "It seemed like there was a lid on the basket in the third quarter. They played good aggressive defense and they are a good team at home. We learned our lesson tonight."

The matchup of the top free-throw shooting teams in the NBA was a bit of a mismatch as Indiana made 24-of-27 attempts to 11-of-14 for Milwaukee.

Milwaukee coach George Karl was ejected by referee Tim Donaghy with 4:54 left in the second quarter after arguing a non-call.

"That was the worst call of my career," Karl said. "It's a sad commentary toward officiating. It was definitely personal, from another game. I don't recall but it had to be something."

The Bucks trailed 67-64 with 6:59 left in the third quarter but Miller buried a 19-footer and 3-pointer 26 seconds apart. Ervin Johnson answered with a layup with 5:22 left before Mark Jackson sank a 16-footer for a 74-66 advantage.

Scott Williams drew Milwaukee within six with a 13-footer but Perkins drained a 3-pointer and Jalen Rose added a free throw with 95 seconds to go.

Indiana led 78-70 entering the final quarter and pushed the lead to 16 on a pair of free throws by Best 4:19 into the period. The Bucks made just 7-of-16 shots without and did not convert a free throw opportunity in the final quarter.

Robinson was 8-of-13 for 21 points in the opening half but just 2-of-10 from the field in the second.

The Bucks raced to an early five-point lead but trailed 32-27 at the end of one quarter as Miller had nine points. The Pacers' lead was 12 midway through the second quarter as Miller had 14 at the break.
