Game Story

INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Jalen Rose scored 29 points and Reggie Miller added 15 as the Indiana Pacers rolled to their 22nd consecutive home victory, 104-88 over the Golden State Warriors.

Rose made his first seven shots and went 11-for-19 overall. He has scored 20 or more points in 11 of his last 12 games and has led the Pacers in scoring in seven of the last 11 games.

"I'm not looking for my shot as much as I was earlier in the season," Rose said. "I'm just letting the game come to me and the rest seeems to be taking care of itself. We have a team that isn't selfish. Whoever is hot, we are going to give him the ball."

Indiana never trailed in improving to 25-2 at home, including 10-0 against Western Conference teams, and has won 12 of 14 overall. The Pacers remained three games ahead of the Miami Heat for the best record in the Eastern Conference.

Recently acquired Larry Hughes led Golden State with 24 points and Donyell Marshall added 16 and a career-high 23 rebounds.

The Warriors outrebounded Indiana, 58-30, but suffered their seventh loss in their last eight road games. Playing its fourth game in five nights, Golden State fell to 2-32 this season when held under 100 points.

"I'm not going to make excuses. Those things just happen," said Golden State coach Garry St. Jean on the busy stretch. "We worked hard enough tonight, but you just have to make shots. I'm still finding positives on this team."

Indiana led 52-43 at the half but saw its lead cut to 58-53 on a driving layup by Mookie Blaylock with 9:31 remaining in the third quarter. The Pacers responded with a 6-0 run, capped by two free throws from Rose with 7:19 to play.

A layup by Marshall with 2:43 left moved Golden State within 69-62 before Rose started a 7-0 burst with a 15-footer. A 3-pointer by Miller allowed the Pacers to build a 76-62 margin with 36 seconds to play.

"We weren't really sharp," Indiana coach Larry Bird said. "When they cut it to five, we started to play a little bit."

Rik Smits scored all nine of his points in the third quarter as Indiana grabbed a 76-64 lead.

Marshall scored the first point of the fourth quarter on a free throw but that was the closest the Warriors got. Al Harrington, who shot 4-of-5 and scored 11 points in 11 minutes off the bench, drained a 3-pointer with 1:41 left to give Indiana its largest lead at 99-79.

"The streak is definitely on our minds," Rose said. "We know we are a great playoff team at home and we know we are a great home team in our new building (Conseco Fieldhouse)."

Travis Best added 10 points off the bench for Indiana, which shot 42 percent (36-of-85), including 7-of-18 from behind the arc and committed only nine turnovers.

Rose scored 13 points in the first quarter as the Pacers grabbed a 25-23 lead. Indiana opened the second quarter on a 9-0 run as Rose scored five, capping the run with a 3-pointer with 9:39 remaining. Harrington scored six of his eight second-quarter points in a 90-second span, including a 22-footer with 3:12 to go, as the Pacers extended their advantage to 50-35.

Golden State closed the second quarter on an 8-2 run as Erick Dampier and Vonteego Cummings had four each. Cummings' layup with 6.2 seconds remaining allowed the Warriors to get within nine at the half.

Dampier had 15 points and a season-high 16 rebounds for Golden State, which outscored Indiana 56-28 in the paint but shot 37 percent (33-of-88), including 2-of-12 from behind the arc.
