Game Story

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- In a battle between the worst teams in the Western Conference, Lamar Odom and the Los Angeles Clippers made the Golden State Warriors look even worse than usual.

Odom posted his fourth career triple-double with 16 points, 12 rebounds and a career-high 11 assists and rookie Quentin Richardson added 18 points and eight boards in his first career start as the Clippers embarrassed the Warriors, 106-83.

In search of its first back-to-back wins of the season after Saturday's impressive 114-93 rout of Minnesota, Golden State was swamped early and often by Los Angeles' young and enthusiastic lineup.

Clippers starters combined to go 30-of-54 from the floor with Odom, Richardson, Jeff McInnis (18 points) and Derek Strong (12) reaching double figures in scoring.

"I thought we were all very focused on what we had to do tonight," Odom said.

Los Angeles had lost five in a row and seven of nine, failing to score better than 90 points in any of those contests before exploding at Golden State's expense.

Antawn Jamison scored 24 points and Larry Hughes added 20 for the Warriors, whose reserves were outscored, 20-0, by the Clippers bench in the first half.

"As bad as our offense was, our defense was worse," Golden State coach Dave Cowens said. "We gave them too many good looks and they scored 20 more points than they have been averaging."

"We knew this wasn't going t; a cakewalk," Jamison added. "We're doing the same things over and over, it's embarrassing. We've got to show some heart. We've got to show that we can be dedicated to the game and ourselves night in and night out."

On their way off the floor, the Clippers received a standing ovation from the sparse crowd of 10,130 at the Staples Center.

McInnis opened the scoring with an 18-footer and Richardson, thrust into the lineup after swingman Tyrone Nesby was traded to Washington on Tuesday, buried a 3-pointer and the Clippers never looked back.

"We needed a little more of an offensive punch out there -- a guy that can make jump shots, post up some and create some mismatches," Clippers coach Alvin Gentry said of Richardson.

Los Angeles took a 29-16 lead after 12 minutes and Odom began the second period by lofting a perfect alley-oop feed to rookie Darius Miles, who threw down a thunderous dunk.

"I think when I pass the ball, those are my best games," Odom said. "I think that's going to be the key on this team. I try to be like the second point guard on the floor."

Sean Rooks fed the 19-year-old Miles for another acrobatic slam midway through the second quarter as the Clippers opened a 45-25 lead.

"That was way more fun than other games," Miles said. "We were loose, played good and won the game. It feels really good."

Jamison's back-to-back jumpers midway through the third quarter threatened to make a game of it, pulling Golden State within 63-53. But Odom hit an 11-footer and a free throw around an eight-footer by McInnis as Los Angeles restored a 15-point cushion with 3:47 remaining in the third quarter.

Jamison's 27-footer two minutes later again cut the deficit to 10 points before Odom answered with a 3-pointer, Richardson made a free throw and Strong's 13-footer made it 78-62 after three periods.

Things only got worse for Golden State over the final 12 minutes, when they were outscored, 28-21.

Miles finished with 10 points and seven boards off the bench for Los Angeles, which still is awaiting the arrival of center Cherokee Parks. Parks was acquired in the deal for Nesby.

The Clippers shot 52 percent (40-of-77), held a 42-37 rebounding edge and yielded just seven points off turnovers while scoring 23 on Golden State giveaways.

Adam Keefe had 12 points for Golden State, which shot 37.5 percent (30-of-80).
