Game Story

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- The 3-point shot for the Phoenix Suns turned into the three-man show in the fourth quarter.

Cliff Robinson, Jason Kidd and Rodney Rogers combined for 23 points in the final period as the Suns rallied for a 104-96 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Robinson and Kidd scored eight points apiece while Rogers, the reigning NBA Sixth Man of the Year, netted the first seven points of the fourth quarter, when Phoenix outscored Milwaukee, 28-13.

Taking advantage of the Bucks' poor perimeter defense, the Suns hit 11-of-18 3-pointers.

Robinson made 5-of-6 from the arc and scored a season-best 35 points. Rogers added 25 points and Kidd had 16 and nine assists.

"We did a really good job going after their weak-side defenders," said Robinson, who made 12-of-22 shots from the field. "We made great decisions. We knew when to take the open jumper and when to pass it off."

Glenn Robinson scored 26 points and Ray Allen 14 for the Bucks, who lost for just the second time in their last seven games.

"It was a story of two different ballgames out there tonight," Bucks coach George Karl said. "The first three quarters we played well offensively and defensively. In the fourth quarter we were beaten on both ends of the floor."

Coming off a rather easy victory at New Jersey on Wednesday, the Bucks showed no effects of playing on a second consecutive night until the fourth quarter, when they appeared to lose their legs.

Rogers was a one-man wrecking crew to begin the period, scoring his team's first seven points. His 3-pointer from the right sideline pulled Phoenix within 85-83 with 9:49 remaining.

"He was huge. Rod made great decisions," Phoenix coach Scott Skiles said. "He tried to score when he had single coverage and he found the open man when they double-teamed him. This probably was his best game of the season."

Robinson scored the Suns' next four points before Kidd converted a three-point play, giving Phoenix the lead for good at 92-89 with 5:24 remaining. Kidd followed with a 3-pointer for a six-point bulge.

"We were struggling to get it under three the first three quarters," Cliff Robinson said. "Once we were able to make a few plays, we got over the hump. We were confident."

The Suns, who trailed by as many as 12 points in the first half, shot 49 percent (39-of-79) from the field and were outrebounded, 43-36.

Milwaukee got as close as 97-93 with 3:24 left on a pair of free throws from Allen, who made just 3-of-14 shots.

Following Allen's foul shots, Mario Elie provided the dagger for Phoenix on the ensuing trip by draining a 3-pointer.

"They made shots down the stretch and we didn't. That's how they won the ballgame," Glenn Robinson said. "We didn't make stops in the fourth quarter and they got it going."

The Bucks made just 4-of-15 shots from the field over the final 12 minutes and shot 48 percent (39-of-81) overall.

Glenn Robinson scored 12 points in the first half and Tim Thomas had 11 as the Bucks led 57-48 at intermission. Thomas did not score in the second half, missing six shots.
