Game Story

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- The holidays bring out the best in everyone, even bitter NBA rivals.

Chris Webber scored 23 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the Sacramento Kings to a 97-92 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics, who had a five-game winning streak snapped.

Gary Payton and Vin Baker each scored 20 points for Seattle, which defeated Sacramento on November 20, 89-85. In that game, Baker and Webber battled ferociously throughout until Baker was ejected.

Tonight, no words were exchanged and Webber led his team to the best record in the NBA.

Jon Barry made two free throws with 1:53 remaining to cap a 12-1 run and give the Kings a 92-86 lead.

Vlade Divac collected 16 points and 10 rebounds for Sacramento, sinking two free throws with 5:23 left that forged an 85-85 tie. Divac and Webber each added a foul shot to put the Kings ahead for good, 87-85, with 4:13 to play.

Seattle started the fourth quarter with an 8-1 run. With 11:22 to play, Brent Barry hit a bucket that gave the Sonics a 74-73 advantage and their first lead since Patrick Ewing's jumper made it 19-18 in the opening period.

The Sonics were down by as many as 14 points after Jason Williams scored four points during a brief 5-0 burst in the third quarter.

The Kings are 16-1 when taking a lead into the fourth quarter. They also improved to 12-1 at home this season.
