Game Story

ATLANTA (Ticker) -- Lamond Murray scored 22 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as the Cleveland Cavaliers ended a five-game losing streak with a 97-85 win over the Atlanta Hawks.

The Cavaliers won for the first time in four games since starting center Zydrunas Ilgauskas went down with his latest foot injury.

Cleveland led most of the game but fell behind, 76-75, when Jason Terry hit a 16-foot jumper with 9:41 left. Matt Harpring, who defended Terry for most of the game, answered with a jumper 16 seconds later to put the Cavaliers ahead for good.

Cleveland outscored the Hawks, 22-8, to close the game. Harpring, who fought off Achilles tendinitis, had eight of his 13 points during that stretch.

"I was surprised that I made it the whole game," Harpring said. "Chasing Terry around the whole game wasn't fun."

Andre Miller scored 19 points and Clarence Weatherspoon added 16 for Cleveland, which shot 49 percent (37-of-75). Miller also had six rebounds and five assists.

Chris Gatling scored 13 points off the bench. The Cavaliers made 20-of-21 free throws and scored 28 points off 19 Atlanta turnovers.

"I certainly credit Cleveland for making the plays and for dictating much of the ball game, especially early," Hawks coach Lon Kruger said. "We definitely need to do a better job of taking care of the basketball."

Terry scored 28 points on 12-of-18 shooting, while Lorenzen Wright added 20. Dikembe Mutombo grabbed 20 rebounds for the Hawks, who lost for the second consecutive night following a four-game winning streak.

"The last two games have been tough," Terry said. "We'd get behind late in critical times and I take full blame for it offensively."

Jim Jackson and Matt Maloney combined to make just 5-of-18 shots as Atlanta shot 45.5 percent (35-of-77).

Cleveland opened a 12-point lead on Gatling's basket with just over five minutes remaining in the third quarter before Atlanta rallied. Wright scored back-to-back baskets that triggered a 17-6 run to close the period and left the Hawks trailing, 73-72.

The Cavs led 26-19 after one quarter as Weatherspoon and Murray each scored seven points.

The win snapped the Cavaliers' seven-game losing streak in Atlanta. Murray is averaging 20 points in Cleveland's two wins over the Hawks this season. The Cavs won at home, 97-90, on December 9.
