Game Story

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- Antonio McDyess had 25 points and 17 rebounds as the surging Denver Nuggets defeated the Golden State Warriors, 111-100, for their first victory here in nearly six years.

The Nuggets (17-15) have won seven of their last nine games and moved two games over .500 for the first time this season. They ended a 10-game road losing streak to Golden State dating to April 22, 1995.

Holding a 100-96 lead with less than four minutes to play, the Nuggets closed the game with an 11-4 run. Raef LaFrentz had a basket, Nick Van Exel drilled a 3-pointer and Voshon Lenard hit a pair from the arc.

Lenard scored 23 points and Van Exel had nine and 11 assists. The Nuggets are 10-2 when a player besides McDyess and Van Exel scores 19 or more points.

Denver opened the final quarter on a 11-4 burst, taking a 96-90 lead with 7:52 to play on George McCloud's inside basket. McDyess pushed the lead to six on two occasions before Larry Hughes converted free throws to cut the lead to 100-96 with 3:53 to go.

Antwan Jamison scored 13 of his 26 points in the third quarter. December Rookie of the Month Marc Jackson added 22 and 12 boards for Golden State, which appeared out of sync by fumbling rebounds and turning over seemingly easy passes.
