Detroit (14-18) at Houston (15-16) 8:30 pm EST ---------------------------------------------------------------- HOUSTON (Ticker) -- Plagued by injuries, the Houston Rockets hope they have enough left to contain the streaky Detroit Pistons on Thursday night when the two teams meet at the Compaq Center.

The Rockets have lost seven of their last nine games, but are coming off of a 100-95 win at Cleveland. Carlos Rogers had a season-high 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Rockets used their bench to pull out a victory over the Cavaliers.

Houston is without starting and backup centers Hakeem Olajuwon and Kelvin Cato. Forward Maurice Taylor also went down with an injury early in the second half of the Cleveland game, forcing Rogers into action.

The Rockets' bench outscored Cleveland's reserves, 45-11. Houston is led by Steve Francis's 18.6 points per game and is 5-0 against the Central Division this season.

Detroit got 33 points from Jerry Stackhouse and defeated the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night. Dallas' Steve Nash had two good looks at the basket in the final seconds but missed both potential tying 3-pointers.

Stackhouse has led Detroit in scoring in each of the last 14 games. Joe Smith, who considered joining Dallas before signing with Detroit, added 28 points and 15 rebounds and Ben Wallace pulled down 14 rebounds to go with 10 points.

The Pistons snapped a three-game losing streak and a three-game road skid. Stackhouse leads the team in scoring with 28.7 ppg.

Detroit is 5-8 against the Western Conference this season and 6-11 on the road.
