Game Story

BOSTON (Ticker) -- Antawn Jamison and the Golden State Warriors were in the perfect place for a third straight victory on the road.

Jamison scored 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics, 100-88, closing with a 10-0 run.

"Coach told us in the huddle, `When we play teams, especially good teams, they always find a way to win in the fourth quarter. Let's be those guys tonight,'" Jamison said. "Tonight we were."

Trailing 78-77 entering the final quarter, Golden State took the lead for good on rookie Marc Jackson's tip-in to open the period. The Celtics were within 90-88 when Kenny Anderson scored with 4:16 to play but the Warriors scored the final 10 points, eight by Jamison, to settle the outcome.

The game ended with Anderson dribbling out the final 22 seconds to a chorus of boos, a tactic usually reserved for the winning team.

"I understand the frustration but it bothers me tonight," Boston coach Rick Pitino said. "Not the fans booing but the way the team played. This is as bad as I have ever felt after a loss. I am accountable. I place it on myself. I go home and eat myself out alive."

Larry Hughes scored 18 points and Bobby Sura added 17 off the bench for Golden State. Jackson had a double-double with 25 points and 14 rebounds as the Warriors opened a five-game road trip with their fifth win in their last eight outings.

"Any win for us is big, especially the first one on a road trip like this," Golden State coach Dave Cowens said. "I am really pleased. What good teams do in the fourth quarter is turn it up, put the pressure on and turn on the defense. I think we did that tonight."

Golden State's Mookie Blaylock added 13 assists and nine points. Hughes set a career high with four blocks.

Paul Pierce scored 36 points to lead Boston but missed all seven shots in the Celtics' dismal fourth quarter. Pierce had just two points in the final 12 minutes.

Anderson and Antoine Walker each added 17 points for Boston, which scored just 10 points in the final period to seal its 10th loss in 13 games. The Celtics missed all six shots and had two turnovers in their scoreless final four minutes.

"All of these losses make me sick," Walker said. "If we're not careful, we are going to be one of the worst teams in the NBA or at least, headed in that direction."

The defeat gave Boston its third four-game losing streak of the season. The Celtics were outrebounded, 50-40, and were led by Walker's eight. Boston shot just 39 percent (34-of-88).

The first half was a nip-and-tuck affair that ended with Boston up, 52-47. Pierce had 18 at the half while rookie Chris Porter led the Warriors with 13.

Porter left the game with a left ankle sprain midway through the third quarter and did not return.
