Game Story

ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- Tracy McGrady scored 27 points as the Orlando Magic used two big runs to post a 111-94 victory over the defenseless Golden State Warriors.

Rookie Marc Jackson scored on a 15-footer to pull Golden State into a 44-44 tie with 6:11 to go in the second quarter. But Orlando closed the period with an 16-5 run that included 10 points by McGrady and went to the locker with a 60-49 lead.

The Magic blitzed the Warriors with a 16-0 run to start the third quarter. Rookie Mike Miller started the burst with a 3-pointer and Andrew DeClerq's basket capped the scoring with 6:34 to play. Orlando led 88-67 after three quarters.

"A great for us," Orlando coach Doc Rivers said. "Putting Golden State away early, it's kind of nice to have one of these wins on our side."

McGrady, who sat out the final period, had 25 points in the first half. Pat Garrity added 17 and Monty Williams contributed 14 and eight rebounds off the bench. The duo helped Orlando's reserves outscore the Warriors' bench, 62-22.

"He was terrific," Rivers said of McGrady. "Tracy is just a star basketball player."

Darrell Armstrong had a strong effort with 11 points, nine assists and just one turnover. The Magic outrebounded Golden State, 50-48.

"I want to make sure that I can get guys the ball, get us some shots every time down without turning the ball over," Armstrong said. "My teammates are doing their job and I'm trying to do my job with them, and that's why I have had success this whole week."

Jackson had 25 points and 13 rebounds as Golden State closed a five-game road trip with its fourth straight loss. Antawn Jamison scored 21 points and Bobby Sura and Mookie Blaylock had 10 apiece.

"They outworked us, they out-toughed us and they outplayed us," Sura said. "You gotta go out and play every night. You can't come into a game and take a night off like we did tonight. We make a lot of money to come and play each night."

Golden State coach Dave Cowens was not available for comment after the game.

The Magic improved to 9-3 all-time at home against the Warriors.
