Game Story

CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Picking up right where he left off Sunday, Vince Carter continued to showcase his All-Star skills.

Carter scored 33 points for the Toronto Raptors as they defeated the slumping Cleveland Cavaliers for the seventh straight time, 120-105.

Cleveland has dropped eight in a row overall and six straight at home.

Carter, who scored 16 in the East's comeback win over the West in Sunday's midseason classic, had 16 in the third quarter to lift the Raptors to their seventh straight victory over the Cavaliers dating to April 1999.

The Raptors (27-23) improved to four games over .500 for the first time this season.

Toronto's Antonio Davis also flashed his All-Star form with his fifth straight double-double, collecting a season-high 25 points and 13 rebounds.

"He just played like an All-Star." Carter said. "I think earning an All-Star berth puts your confidence on another level. He played his butt off tonight, and he did it for us on both ends."

The Raptors have beat the Cavs by a combined 42 points in two meetings this season. They meet again in 14 days at the AirCanada Centre.

Carter scored 10 straight Raptors points in the third quarter and 16 in the period, which ended with Toronto holding an 89-67 lead.

"I was just going out there as a team," Carter said. "When I got the opportunity to shoot the ball, when I needed to make it, I just tried to concentrate and make the shots. I knocked my shots down."

With Carter on the bench, Cleveland used an 8-0 run and closed to 102-90 on a three-point play by Trajan Langdon with 4:58 to go. That forced Toronto to re-insert Carter, who had sat down in the last minute of the third quarter and thought he was done for the night.

"I did, but it happens," he said. "They still played hard regardless of their record. They played hard and they played to win."

Langdon's 3-pointer from the top of the key made it 105-94 with 3:55 to go, but the Raptors regrouped and Carter's two dunks rebuilt the lead to 113-96 with 1:46 to play.

With 7:37 left in the second quarter, Langdon notched the ninth four-point play in team history when he was fouled by Dell Curry while shooting a 3-pointer from the left wing. Wesley Person was the last to do so in 1997.

"It's frustrating when guys don't put a whole game together." Cleveland forward Chris Gatling said. "We can't flip on a switch and turn it on like other teams can, we are not like that. We want to play defense, but if a guy doesn't want to play defense, he won't, and that's where the frustration sets in."

Clarence Weatherspoon had 21 points and 10 rebounds, Andre Miller had 18 and 11 assists and Langdon scored 16 off the bench for Cleveland, which shot 51 percent (38-of-75) from the field but was outrebounded, 45-35.

"The only thing I have to say is, that was a sign of a bad team, a team that did not have any intention of coming out and winning tonight," Cleveland coach Randy Wittman said. "From this point on, if we have to play four guys, I will find however many there are. There might be one, there might be two, there might be five that are willing to play the game with heart. If there's only four, we'll play four. From now on, were going to be determined on the practice floor. Tomorrow's practice will determine who will play on Wednesday."
