Game Story

ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- The Milwaukee Bucks will be glad to see the Orlando Magic in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

Glenn Robinson had 19 points, nine rebounds and four steals as the Bucks completed a sweep of the season series with a 101-89 victory over the Orlando Magic.

Charlotte's win on Monday night ensured the Bucks and Magic will meet in a best-of-five first-round series.

"We feel like we match up well against them in the playoffs," said Scott Williams, who scored 12 points and tied a season high with 14 rebounds. "It is a quality basketball team over there, but I really think they are missing Grant Hill. They just don't have the firepower necessary to last 48 minutes with us."

Six Bucks finished in double figures as Milwaukee extended its winning streak against Orlando to nine games since April 9, 1999.

Tracy McGrady collected 26 points and eight rebounds, but he could not stop Orlando from being swept by Milwaukee for the fourth time since joining the NBA in 1989.

"We're not going to beat the Bucks if we let their other guys play well," McGrady said. "If we can contain their big three like we did tonight and contain their bench people, we'll be all right. If we do that, we're going to beat them. I truly believe that."

Robinson's points came on just 8-of-22 shooting. Milwaukee's guard tandem of Ray Allen and Sam Cassell combined for just 23 points but contributed 14 assists.

"If you don't consider us the best backcourt, I would like to see who you would put in front of us," Cassell said. "Ray Allen and myself have a tremendous amount of respect for one another. I think that is why we play so well together."

McGrady sank a 21-footer with 6:08 left in the third quarter to cap a 20-6 run and knot the contest at 59-59.

"I don't think we played with much fundamental focus in that period of time," Bucks coach George Karl said. "I think we forced some shots and made some turnovers. I thought we played somewhat lazy."

Lindsay Hunter, who had 15 points off the bench, made a basket with 2:09 left in the period to put the Bucks ahead for good, 69-68. The guard ignited a 16-3 run bridging the final two quarters and opened an 83-71 advantage. Milwaukee never led by fewer than seven thereafter.

"We know what we have to do," Orlando guard Dee Brown said. "We have to analyze the players and figure out what they want to do. We tried to take their top three players out of the game, but their bench players kept them in the game."

Milwaukee reserves Hunter, Jason Caffrey and Ervin Johnson, who had a season-high 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting, all reached double figures as the Bucks' bench outscored the Magic's, 45-25.

"Our bench, I would say, has been outplayed four times when we have played this basketball team," Magic coach Doc Rivers said. "If you look, their stars really did not do much to us. It was more their bench."

Orlando forward Charles Outlaw matched Williams with 14 rebounds, but the Bucks held the edge on the boards, 50-40. Milwaukee also took advantage of 19 turnovers, coverting them into 21 points.
