Game Story

CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Ricky Davis scored 18 points off the bench to lead a balanced attack as the Cleveland Cavaliers rolled to a 94-75 victory over the Washington Wizards, giving them consecutive wins for the first time this season.

Davis had 14 in the fourth quarter as the Cavaliers posted back-to-back wins for the first time since taking three in a row last season from April 13-16.

"I'm just coming out and hitting my shots and being patient," Davis said. "I'm trying to win and play hard. I'm trying to get the Cleveland Cavs' fans to come back home."

The presence of Michael Jordan helped fill Gund Arena for the first time this season.

Lamond Murray added 14 points and 10 rebounds for Cleveland, which never trailed as all five starters joined Davis in double figures.

"I thought it was a very good win and a clean win," Cavs coach John Lucas said. "We played the game all the way through. I thought (Jumaine) Jones and Davis did a great job on Michael and we had a great effort. Davis came off the bench and was outstanding, and he's playing smarter and smarter."

Despite spending much of the game in foul trouble, Cavs point guard Andre Miller, who entered as the NBA assists leader, handed out nine with 14 points.

Cleveland took a 66-58 lead into the fourth quarter and went on a 15-3 run over the next 6:11 to put the game out of reach. Davis scored 10 points to fuel the outburst.

Washington (3-10), which lost for the ninth time in 10 games, was paced by Jordan's 18 points. But Jordan, who leads the league in field-goal attempts, was just 9-of-24 from the field to fall to 40 percent (131-of-326) this season.

"I think we stink," Jordan said. "When you don't come in with the same focus every night, I think that you get so happy after one win, you just don't come in with the same intensity. I just don't think we were ready to play at their level or anybody's level when you come in and don't give the effort right out of the box."

Richard Hamilton added 13 points for the Wizards but made just 3-of-13 shots. Christian Laettner was the only other Washington player in double figures with 10 points and seven rebounds.

The 75 points were a season low for the Wizards, whose previous mark was 84 in a 15-point loss to Seattle on November 11.

"We were lifeless," Washington coach Doug Collins said. "I knew it before the game. Guys messed around getting on the floor. They didn't get out until there were 14 minutes to warm up. I kept asking them to get out, get out and warmed up. We walked out on the floor and we were 20 points down."

Cleveland (5-10) shot 56 percent en route to a season-high 32 points in the first quarter and a 12-point lead. The Cavaliers extended the advantage to 42-22 with 8:22 left in the second period, but Jordan scored eight points to cut the Wizards' deficit to 48-40 at halftime.

Washington climbed within 52-50 with 7:52 remaining in the third quarter, but that was as close as it got. The Wizards shot a season-low 33.7 percent (30-of-89), while the Cavs clicked at just under 51 percent (41-of-81).

"I just haven't shot the ball particularly well, and I'm not going to sit here and make excuses," Jordan said. "I missed layups and I missed easy wide-open shots, but that doesn't mean it should sink our boat. There are guys who are qualified who can definitely put points on the board. I don't see anyone covering my back as everybody probably expected me to cover theirs."

The Cavaliers had the edge in rebounds (45-39), assists (29-20) and fast-break points (20-3).

The teams split four meetings last season, with each winning once on the road. Cleveland has won 16 of the last 20 home games against Washington.
