Game Story

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Lucious Harris scored 20 of his 22 points in the first half and Jason Kidd added 17 as the New Jersey Nets defeated the Chicago Bulls on the road for just the third time in their last 33 tries, 107-93.

With the Nets trailing, 27-24, Harris hit a 3-pointer as the first quarter ended, starting a 17-0 run over the next 4:06 during which the 6-5 guard scored eight points.

"I was just getting the ball from Kenyon (Martin)." said Harris, referring to his 3-pointer. "Once I looked up and saw the clock, I shot it. I think it propelled us and gave us the energy we were missing in the early part of the game."

"(The 3-pointer) gave us a wake-up call," Kidd said. "It helped us to then come out and hold them scoreless early in the second quarter."

Harris shot 8-of-10 from the field and hit all four of his shots from behind the arc as well as his two free-throw attempts.

"It was really important for us to win here," Harris said.

"When he's in a zone like that, I just need to get him the ball," Kidd added.

Kidd shot 7-of-13 and 2-of-5 from 3-point range in 35 minutes and is averaging 15.5 points over his last two games.

Ron Mercer led Chicago with 18 points on 9-of-18 shooting in 39 minutes. Brad Miller and Greg Anthony added 15 points apiece as the Bulls lost for the fourth time in their last six games.

"We didn't respond too well (after the first)," Anthony said. "They shot well and it wasn't all easy shots."

The Bulls trailed, 59-47, at halftime but were only able to cut the deficit to nine after three quarters, 85-74.

"Our guys came out with some energy in the third quarter but we did not keep it going," Chicago coach Tim Floyd said.

Kidd scored 10 of New Jersey's 26 points in the quarter, shooting 4-of-7 from the field -- 2-of-3 from the arc. Anthony led Chicago with eight third-quarter points.

The Nets opened the fourth quarter with a 15-6 run over the first 6:52, making it 100-80. Kerry Kittles had two 3-pointers during the stretch for six of his eight points. Overall, he shot just 3-of-10 from the floor and had three assists.

New Jersey shot 53 percent (43-of-80) from the field and 64 percent (11-of-17) from 3-point range.

"We knew they would come out and give us their best as they have played well at home," Kidd said. "We played good defense and executed our offense."

Chicago was 35-of-79 (44 percent) from the floor and 4-of-7 (57 percent) from behind the arc.

"We did a poor job of locating shooters," Floyd said. "That was our biggest problem tonight."
