Game Story

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- The Sacramento Kings don't give you much of a chance in Arco Arena.

Chris Webber scored 24 points and Peja Stojakovic added 21 as the Kings cruised to their 17th straight home win, a 113-80 trouncing of the Utah Jazz.

Coming off an overtime loss at Portland on Tuesday, the Kings returned to the NBA's toughest home court and made quick work of the Jazz, who played Wednesday and clearly did not have the legs to keep up.

"With this team, as good as they are, I'm not sure we could have competed against their second team," Utah coach Jerry Sloan said. "Their second group would have beat us by 20."

"I am concerned about our team," Jazz guard John Stockton said. "We normally play pretty well on second (straight) nights. We come in loose and ready to play, but tonight they were just terrific."

In improving to 24-1 at home, the Kings took the lead for good just over seven minutes into the contest, opened a 19-point halftime lead and poured it on right until the final buzzer.

Webber, Stojakovic and starting point guard Mike Bibby sat the entire fourth quarter and watched the bench mop up Sacramento's 13th win in 14 games overall.

"I just think we've gotten used to beating everyone here," Kings center Vlade Divac said. "When we play here, we're supposed to win. That's just the mentality we have."

"We just play great here, with a lot of energy," guard Bobby Jackson said.

During its home winning streak, Sacramento has won by an average of 14.2 points. Only two of those games were decided by less than six points and three were won by at least 24. Nine of the last 11 wins have been by double digits.

Jackson scored 18 points off the bench and Bibby added 15 for the Kings, who shot 48 percent (41-of-86) and held a 52-45 rebounding advantage.

Karl Malone scored 14 points and Stockton 12 for the Jazz, who suffered their worst loss of the season. They were beaten by 32 points at Atlanta on November 14.

Utah has lost four of five and hosts Sacramento on Saturday.

"I don't get caught up in that revenge stuff," Malone said. "You just got to go out and play and do the best you can."

"If they play the same way, I don't think they have a chance," Divac said.

In a sloppy first quarter, Sacramento took the lead for good at 12-11 on a basket by Webber with 4:55 left. The Kings led 26-21 after 12 minutes despite committing six turnovers.

"It was a strange start to the game," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "I was a little concerned when we had more turnovers than assists."

Scaramento opened the second quarter with a 13-2 burst. Bibby's two free throws provided a 39-23 lead with 6:32 left and the Kings opened a 54-35 advantage at halftime.

"We missed a lot of shots in the first quarter, but in the second quarter we came out and turned it on," Bibby said.

A basket by Stojakovic capped a 7-2 run that started the third quarter and gave Sacramento a 61-37 lead. Utah got no closer than 18 points thereafter.

"We didn't compete very much tonight," Sloan said. "We've had stretches where we can't compete at all."

The Kings used 10 players. Every one played at least 12 minutes and scored at least four points.

DeShawn Stevenson scored 12 points and rookie Andrei Kirilenko added 10 for the Jazz, who shot 39 percent (32-of-82) and have lost four of the last five meetings between the teams.
