Game Story

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Glenn Robinson scored 22 points and became the second-leading scorer in team history and the Milwaukee Bucks pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 92-86 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Robinson's jumper with 1:55 remaining moved him past Sidney Moncrief for second on the Bucks' all-time scoring list with 11,595 points. He trails Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

"I'm just blessed to have accomplished this. It puts me in great company and I'm very proud of that," Robinson said. "To even have my name mentioned in the same breath as Kareem is incredible."

Trailing 69-66 entering the fourth quarter, Milwaukee surged ahead with a 14-3 burst. Robinson's jumper with 7:44 left put the Bucks ahead for good, 73-72.

Ray Allen scored 20 points and Sam Cassell added 13 and nine assists as Milwaukee avoided a season series sweep by Los Angeles.

"We need to keep building our confidence," Robinson said. "We are just getting to play games with each other again. Sam, Ray and I all missed time this year so it's been hard to get a rhythm going on the court."

Ervin Johnson's dunk gave Milwaukee an 80-72 lead, but Los Angeles chipped away and pulled within 87-86 on a runner by Jeff McInnis with 25 seconds left.

But Cassell hit two free throws and newly acquired Greg Anthony sank one around a Clippers' turnover. Tim Thomas capped the scoring with a dunk.

"It went down to the wire, we put ourselves in a position to win it, but couldn't finish it off," Clippers forward Elton Brand said. "It's tough to win on the road."

McInnis scored 16 points and Brand added 11 and 10 rebounds for the Clippers, who had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Michael Olowokandi scored 15 points and grabbed nine boards as Los Angeles shot 43 percent (32-of-74) from the field and held a 40-35 rebounding edge.

"I'm disappointed in that we didn't win because we did what we had to do to win," Los Angeles coach Alvin Gentry said.

Thomas scored 12 points off the bench as the Bucks shot 50 percent (37-of-74) and handed out 23 assists to Los Angeles' 14.

"Elton Brand and Olowokandi are capable of putting up some big numbers and I thought Mase (Anthony Mason), Ervin and Joel (Przybilla) played them well," Bucks coach George Karl said.

Olowokandi scored 12 points in the first quarter to pace the Clippers to a 22-17 lead.
