Game Story

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Even with a bad shoulder, Aaron McKie carried the Philadelphia 76ers to a big win.

McKie made the tying jumper with 19 seconds left in regulation, then scored eight of his 22 points in overtime to lead the 76ers to an 89-83 victory over the Phoenix Suns.

The 2001 NBA Sixth Man Award winner, McKie has been hampered by injuries all season. His latest setback was a shoulder injury suffered in Sunday's loss to Toronto and he was a game-time decision for this contest.

With the 76ers already missing superstar guard Allen Iverson and tied with two teams for fifth place in the Eastern Conference, McKie gutted it out and saved his best for last. Philadelphia never led in the second half but forged a 75-75 tie when McKie pulled up for a 20-footer.

The Sixers never trailed in overtime as Eric Snow opened the period with a jumper. McKie scored Philadelphia's next eight points, including a fadeaway from the left baseline with 3:03 left that gave the Sixers the lead for good. He added a driving layup and two free throws to widen the advantage to 85-79 with 1:53 to go.

Philadelphia (39-35) stopped a two-game slide and remained tied with Charlotte and Milwaukee for fifth place in the East. The Sixers swept the Suns for the first time since the 1985-86 season.
