Game StoryMEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Tim Duncan hit a fall-away jumper at the buzzer in overtime to lift the San Antonio Spurs to a 103-101 victory over the winless Memphis Grizzlies. Steve Kerr inbounded to Duncan, who backed down forward Pau Gasol until he turned to release the game-winning shot over him as time expired. Duncan scored nine of his 29 points in the extra session to help the Spurs to their 20th straight victory over the Grizzlies - their longest winning streak over any team. "I thought it had a chance," Duncan said. "(Gasol) had a hand up there and it's tough shooting over him with his size and length." "I'd rather lose like this than lose by 25 or 30 points, but I'm frustrated and that's pretty normal," Gasol said. "I was trying to be aggressive against him, but obviously I'm not a great matchup against big power forwards like him." Memphis, whose team defense is ranked worst in the NBA, held the Spurs without a field goal in the final 4:38 of the fourth quarter and opened the overtime with a 7-0 run. But San Antonio rallied to tie the game at 101-101 on a jumper by Kerr with 22 seconds left. Duncan scored five of San Antonio's final seven points, combining with Kerr to erase a five-point deficit with 1:48 left in overtime. "We go down seven with 3 1/2 left in the game, but our guys continued to fight and understood we had a lot of time left on the clock," Duncan said. "We got some shots to go down for us and got a great effort. I always want the ball, but honestly I thought we moved the ball very well and got it to the open guy." San Antonio's Tony Parker chipped in 22 points and delivered six assists. The Grizzlies attempted to hold for a final shot in overtime, but rookie Drew Gooden could not handle an entry pass in the post from Jason Williams, allowing the Spurs to recover and call time out with 2.8 seconds on the clock. "We had a couple turnovers that cost us the game," said Williams, who scored 19 points and delivered nine assists. "It was a tough game, but overall we played well as a team. I do not believe in moral victories, you have to come out and strap it up every night." "You don't want to see anybody lose a game like that, but we're obviously going to take it just like Memphis would," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "I was really proud of our guys, going down seven but continuing to keep their wits about them and play. We were fortunate at the end." Shane Battier capped a 9-1 Memphis run on a jumper with 30 seconds left in regulation that tied the game at 90-90 and helped force overtime. Gasol led five Grizzlies starters in double-figures with 22 points to go with nine rebounds and six blocked shots. Last year's Rookie of the Year has scored at least 20 points in four straight games for the first time in his career. Gooden and Battier scored 14 points apiece while Stromile Swift added 13 and 10 rebounds. "It was a tough loss," Grizzlies coach Sidney Lowe said. "I thought we played hard and with a lot of energy. We didn't play selfish, we just couldn't close the deal, and I am hurt. They played so hard and they deserved to win that game."
