Game Story

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- The Cleveland Cavaliers' recent success against the Milwaukee Bucks meant nothing. Sam Cassell scored 16 of his 30 points in the decisive third quarter and Michael Redd added a season-high 25 points as the Bucks posted a 112-90 victory over the Cavaliers, who stumbled to their 12th consecutive loss. Cleveland had won 20 of its last 33 meetings with Milwaukee and three of the last four, including both visits to the Bradley Center last season. But the Cavaliers are in the midst of a nightmarish slide and have matched their longest skid from last season. Cassell made 10-of-17 shots from the floor and reserve Toni Kukoc had 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting as Milwaukee posted a season-high in points and cruised to its most lopsided victory of the season. "The shots I was making tonight are shots I've been missing all month," Cassell said. "Hopefully I'll start knocking those shots down more consistently. The shots I've been missing throughout November are shots I expect to make." The Bucks had a 50-42 halftime lead and exploded for 33 points in the third quarter. They had a 57-49 lead before scoring seven consecutive points led by Redd, who had two of his five steals, a 3-pointer and layup during the spurt. "We came out more aggressive in the second half," Redd said. "When I get open looks like I had tonight, I expect to hit the shot. I needed it and my team needed it." Cassell scored 10 points in the final five minutes and made 7-of-9 shots in the quarter. Milwaukee carried an 83-63 cushion heading into the fourth and had their largest lead at the final buzzer. "Overall, Sam took over the game," Cleveland coach John Lucas said. "We could not recover from what he did to us." Redd made 5-of-8 3-pointers as the Bucks shot 8-of-19 from the arc despite playing without sharpshooter Ray Allen, who is on the injured list with a sprained ankle. Tim Thomas scored 12 points and Kevin Ollie added 11 for Milwaukee. Kukoc had nine assists and nine rebounds, falling just shy of a triple-double. Ricky Davis scored 23 points and Jumaine Jones had 17 and 10 rebounds for the Cavaliers, who shot just 36 percent (31-of-87) and were held under 90 points for the seventh straight game. "Shots didn't fall for us," said Davis, who made 9-of-21 shots. "Sometimes we took quick shots or bad shots. We are still coming together. It's a hard process with the losing. We are getting tired of losing." Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 19 points, but rookie Dajuan Wagner, who scored 17 points in his NBA debut on Tuesday, was held to five on 2-of-12 shooting. The game was locked in a 38-38 tie before Milwaukee closed the first half with a 12-4 run. Kukoc scored five points and Cassell added four before Redd closed the burst with a 3-pointer for a 50-42 halftime advantage. "Near the end of the first half the game got away from us," Lucas said. "I thought we were still in good shape going into the half. In the third quarter they got us."
