Game StoryLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The performance of Andre Miller and re-emergence of Quentin Richardson provided a huge lift for the Los Angeles Clippers. Miller tied a career high with 37 points and handed out a season-high 16 assists and Richardson scored 12 of his 14 points after halftime as the Clippers posted a 126-118 overtime victory over the New Jersey Nets. Richardson was one of the best bench players during the 2001-02 season but had been averaging just 5.2 points in his first eight games. He looked more like his former self on Thursday as he torched the Nets for 12 points in the final 18 minutes. "It was good just to be out there and be in rhythm with the team," Richardson said. "We had to push it in the fourth quarter. I was doing a lot of things to get in rhythm. I think that's what started me playing well." The Clippers rallied from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter as Miller and Richardson combined to score 17 points. Miller forced overtime after burying a 3-pointer with 4.9 seconds left in regulation. Los Angeles took the lead for good on a three-point play by Elton Brand with 3:02 remaining in the extra session. Richardson followed with a jumper and Miller had a layup before Michael Olowokandi sealed the win for the Clippers with four straight free throws. Brand scored 21 points and Eric Piatkowski added 17 as Los Angeles snapped a four-game losing streak to New Jersey. "Just for our confidence this was a big win," Brand said. "Everyone stepped it up in the fourth quarter and that's what we need to win close games." Olowokandi had 14 points and nine rebounds and Keyon Dooling 12 off the bench for the Clippers, who had six players in double figures and shot 50 percent (46-of-92) from the floor, including 11-of-25 from 3-point range. "Everybody stepped up, everybody made plays," Miller said. "We had to keep out composure. I was able to get everyone involved. We played a good all-around game tonight." Jason Kidd had 35 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for the Nets, who lost despite making a franchise-record 15 3-pointers. "It's a game we should've won," he said. "It's a lesson learned. Tonight we didn't stop anybody. They got it going and didn't collapse. We were in a position to win and let it get away." Kerry Kittles scored 19 points and Richard Jefferson and Lucious Harris had 17 apiece as New Jersey fell to 1-2 on a five-game road trip. Jefferson had 11 rebounds and Kidd, Kenyon Martin and Dikembe Mutumbo had eight each for the Nets, who held a commanding 51-39 advantage on the glass. New Jersey had a 96-86 lead with 8:55 remaining before Los Angeles reeled off 15 consecutive points. Miller had a pair of three-point plays during the burst, the second of which gave the Clippers a 101-96 edge with 5:02 to go. Kidd buried a 3-pointer with 88 seconds left for a 106-104 lead, but Olowokandi tied it on a turnaround jumper 16 seconds later. Kittles followed with a jumper and Martin made 1-of-2 free throws with 13 seconds to go. But Martin inexplicably fouled Miller, who buried a pair from the line with nine seconds remaining to bring the Clippers within 109-108. Martin fouled out on the play. Kidd sank a pair of clutch free throws with 8.3 seconds left, but New Jersey allowed Miller a wide-open 3-pointer on the next possession. Miller inbounded to Piatkowski, who had freed himself from Kittles on a screen. Kidd scrambled to cover Piatkowski, who found Miller wide open on the left wing for the game-tying shot. "We have to finish," Kidd said. "You can't think when you're up 10 the game is over. That's what happened tonight. We were up and didn't close them out."
