Game StoryATLANTA (Ticker) -- Shareef Abdur-Rahim scored 29 points, including the go-ahead jump shot with 2:42 left in overtime, to lift the Atlanta Hawks to a 100-94 victory over the Miami Heat. Jason Terry and Glenn Robinson scored 24 points apiece for Atlanta, which won in overtime for the second time in its last three games. "It's going to get us in condition," Robinson said. "It's fine. It's good to win these close games. It'll bring us together as a team, as a unit." Malik Allen led the Heat with 21 points. Mike James, who sent the game to overtime with a 3-pointer with 3.6 seconds left in the fourth quarter, added 15. "I thought we moved the ball well," said Miami guard Eddie Jones, who scored 20 points. "We just have to play better defense." Atlanta sealed the victory in the final minute on two free throws each by Abdur-Rahim, Emanual Davis and Terry. The Hawks shot 37-of-44 from the line, including a combined 25-of-29 by Abdur-Rahim and Terry. "We try and throw it inside a lot," Atlanta coach Lon Kruger said. "When you take it to the glass, you have an opportunity to get fouled more." Miami was hampered in overtime by the absence of Travis Best and rookie Caron Butler, each of whom fouled out in the fourth quarter. Brian Grant, who had 16 rebounds, fouled out with 12 seconds left in the extra session. "We gave ourselves a chance to win going into overtime," Grant said. "But regulation is when we should have won it. It's more us breaking down, maybe not executing." Atlanta trailed by as many as 11 points in the fourth quarter but used a 12-2 run to take the lead before a see-saw ending that led to overtime. "We just can't finish," Miami coach Pat Riley said. "We don't have anybody that can step up and finish the game. They can play but they can't finish. Making shots, making plays, going down the stretch, we just don't have that right now." Riley was particularly frustrated when Miami, trailing by one point with 22 seconds left, did not commit a foul to stop the clock until only 10 seconds remained. The Heat then shot just 2-of-12 in the extra session to finish at 34 percent (36-of-103). Atlanta led by nine points in the first half before the Heat went on a 19-6 run that carried into the middle of the third quarter. "I don't think we had the focus in the whole game as a team," Abdur-Rahim said. "Then we kind of got a couple of stops and a couple of scores. It came together. We kept fighting. We fought through it." The Hawks have won three straight home games against the Heat and 20 of 26 all-time meetings in Atlanta.
