Game StorySACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- No matter how many injuries they have, the Sacramento Kings keep finding players to fill the void. Gerald Wallace scored a career-high 21 points and Bobby Jackson had 12 of his 20 in the decisive third quarter as the Kings rolled to a 103-84 victory over the Houston Rockets. Sacramento has won 14 of its first 19 games despite having Chris Webber, Peja Stojakovic, Mike Bibby, Doug Christie, Hedo Turkoglu and Scot Pollard all missing games due to injuries or suspensions. The Kings placed Turkoglu on the injured list before the contest, but Wallace responded with his best career game. "The whole team has to step up and play and we're doing that now," Jackson said. "We're playing very well. Everybody knows what their role is." The second-year forward made 10-of-11 shots from the floor in his third career start. He also grabbed eight rebounds, falling two shy of his career best. "I felt more comfortable and relaxed tonight," Wallace said. "I was playing and having fun. Once I'm more comfortable with the role, I can go in there more relaxed and hit shots in the game. You need to do your job and let the game come to you." Webber scored 10 of his 19 points in the first quarter as Sacramento jumped out to a 30-19 lead. The Kings had a 49-38 halftime advantage and put away the game with 32 points in the third quarter. "Those guys always make great starts," Houston guard Moochie Norris said. "They always have a third-quarter spurt as well. Those guys come out after halftime like they are on fire." Christie scored 14 points and Vlade Divac added 11 for Sacramento, which improved to 9-0 at Arco Arena this season. The Kings shot 50 percent (45-of-90) from the floor, including 6-of-18 from 3-point range, and scored 35 points off 23 Rockets turnovers. Steve Francis scored 22 points and Norris added 13 as Houston lost its ninth consecutive meeting with Sacramento. Chinese rookie Yao Ming had eight points and five rebounds in his first game against the Kings. "They are definitely the toughest team I have played against," he said. "They play five guys as one. The only thing I can do is my best to defense them." The Rockets played without guard Cuttino Mobley and forward Glen Rice, who are sidelined with injuries. Sacramento had a 43-38 lead with 2:33 left in the second quarter before scoring the final six points of the first half. The Kings had a 51-42 edge 60 seconds into the third period when Divac scored three straight points to spark a 23-9 run. Divac scored nine points during the spurt and Wallace capped it with a layup for a 74-51 cushion at the 2:11 mark. The Kings made 13-of-24 shots in the third and carried an 81-58 lead into the final period. Sacramento had its largest lead at 87-60 on a jumper by Jimmy Jackson with 9:40 remaining. Jackson, who was signed to a free agent contract prior to the game, scored four points on 2-of-8 shooting in his first game of the season. "When I get my rhythm together, I can play the way I'm capable of playing," he said. "I feel this will be a comfortable fit for me. It's just the way they play. Everybody is relaxed and together as a team. It makes it a lot easier."
