Game Story

SEATTLE (Ticker) -- Vladimir Radmanovic nearly outscored the Miami Heat in the fourth quarter as the Seattle SuperSonics rolled to a 100-71 victory. Radmanovic scored all 19 of his points during the final 12 minutes, while the Heat managed 20. Radmanovic was on pace to outscore the Heat until Caron Butler hit a short jump shot with 1:34 left for Miami's final points. Radmonovic was perfect on five fourth-quarter 3-point attempts. "I just knocked my shots," Radmanovic said. "I was struggling since the middle of November and I couldn't make any shots, but the last couple of games it's coming back." The game was decided early as Seattle outscored Miami, 34-12, in the first quarter. "We have no collective heart right now," Heat coach Pat Riley said. "We've gotten our heads handed to us two nights in a row. We have not been able to overcome their tremendous starts. We have an absolute loss of confidence. ... We're just not ready and I don't understand what we are doing." The Heat trailed by as many as 24 points and never led, mirroring their effort on Friday in Portland, when they trailed by as many as 28 and never led after scoring only 11 points in the first quarter. "We have regressed," Riley said. "We have forgotten everything that we have taught them. They don't execute anything and we have to get back. That's the first thing that goes when you lose your confidence. You become sort of paralyzed and you don't execute. "We've quit on the system and we've quit on sharing the ball. We have just become a turnover and jump-shooting team the last couple games. I have to change that somehow." Rookie Rasual Butler was one of the few bright spots for Miami off the bench. He scored a season-high 19 points to lead the Heat, who had three bench players in double figures. Caron Butler was the only Miami starter in double figures as Eddie Jones scored under 10 for the third consecutive game, all losses. "Maybe I have to be overly aggressive and take forced shots sometimes," Jones said. "I think that is what I'm going to have to start doing, force a couple shots, maybe force some plays. I have been trying to stay within what we do and make plays for somebody else. "I think I'm overly trying to make plays for people. I've been driving and kicking out. ... I've been like that for the last three games, just trying to make a play for one of my teammates." It was an ugly affiar, with eight technical fouls and a shoving match between Miami's Travis Best and Seattle's Rashard Lewis in the fourth quarter. Miami center Vladimir Stepania, who picked up two technicals, was the only player ejected. "Yeah, guys were getting into it," Seattle guard Brent Barry said. "But I like to see our guys respond aggressively, the way they did." Desmond Mason had 14 points and seven rebounds for the Sonics while Gary Payton added 18 points and 11 assists. The Heat had only 13 assists as a team. "I think that we are out of sync," Jones said. "Defensively and offensively, I think we have to go back to the drawing board and get to things that we are capable of doing." The Heat shot 30 percent from the field (26-of-86), with only four players making multiple field goals.
