Game StoryAUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- Richard Hamilton scored a season-high 32 points and Cliff Robinson added a season-best 21 as the Detroit Pistons continued their home domination of the Atlanta Hawks with a 91-80 triumph. Hamilton scored 12 points in the third quarter to help hold off an Atlanta rally as the Pistons ended their three-game losing streak and improved to 8-2 at home. Hamilton had the hot hand, hitting 14-of-26 shots, but only scored two points in the fourth. "In the fourth, I knew they would be looking for me to shoot," Hamilton said. "So I tried to make the extra pass and find the open man. Before that, in the third, the other guys did a great job getting me shots so I wanted to do the same for them." The Hawks cut a 49-37 halftime lead to 69-64 on a bucket by Shareef Abdur-Rahim with 6:24 left, but Robinson nailed a 3-pointer and Hamilton hit a jumper to pace a 7-1 run. Atlanta never got closer than eight points thereafter. "It didn't feel like we were sliding. They were making a run but you have to expect that," Robinson said. Abdur-Rahim scored 21 points and Jason Terry added 15 for the Hawks, who have lost nine straight games in Detroit and fell to 2-8 on the road this season. "Tonight, it was the turnovers," said Atlanta coach Lon Kruger, whose team had 22 giveaways. "It's going to be hard to win ballgames anywhere, but especially on the road, when you don't take care of the ball. We've got to do a much better job than that." The Pistons got defensive to stop their losing streak. It was the ninth time this season they held an opponent to 80 points or less, but it was the first time in six games. "I looked at some stats and one thing really jumped out at me, in our wins - we've only allowed 77 points a game. In our losses, it's close to 97," Detroit coach Rick Carlisle said. "That really stuck out," Carlisle added. Detroit held Glenn Robinson to 12 points on 5-of-14 shooting as the Hawks shot 42 percent (30-of-71) from the field. "We did what we had to do," Robinson said. "That's a good offensive team and I thought we had a nice defensive effort." Corliss Williamson scored 16 points for the Pistons, who didn't fare much better from the field, hitting at a 44 percent (34-of-77) clip. Ben Wallace grabbed 18 boards, but Detroit was still outrebounded, 49-39. Robinson, who scored eight points in the final quarter, made 4-of-6 3-pointers while the rest of the Pistons were just 2-of-10 from behind the arc.
