Game StoryMIAMI (Ticker) -- Eddie Jones scored a career-high 38 points and the Miami Heat got help from a late whistle in a 101-92 victory over the Golden State Warriors that ended a five-game losing streak. Jones scored 24 points in the second half, one night after Heat coach Pat Riley railed against a perceived bias by officials against his star player and team. "I have no second thoughts about what I said last night," said Riley, who received a technical foul late in the third quarter. "If they want to exile me, there's nothing I can do about it. I'm not taking back anything. It's the way I feel. ... I wouldn't say (the officiating) was a key (in this game)." Miami took a 21-point lead early in the third quarter but allowed Golden State to pull within a point midway through the final period. Jones hit a 3-pointer to give the Heat an 83-79 lead before Golden State's Gilbert Arenas missed two free throws. "Before, I felt like I was playing passive, but tonight I realized I needed to take charge and make the plays for myself," said Jones, whose previous career high was 37 points against Denver on January 29. "I made up my mind that I was going to go hard to the basket and just keep attacking. I've got it in me and that's what I need to do. I shot the ball well and felt comfortable with the way I was running the court." Arenas battled for the rebound of his own miss and was ejected with 4:38 left when he pleaded for a loose-ball foul that was not called. Arenas had 17 points when he was disqualified with his second technical foul. After Arenas was ejected, Jones scored four of the next six points, including a 3-pointer with 3:05 left that capped a 9-0 run and gave the Heat a 10-point lead. "We didn't do a very good job of defending (Jones) and that's all it took for them to take off on us," Warriors coach Eric Musselman said. "Somebody needed to step up and contain him, and we couldn't get the job done." Although Arenas spent some time defending Jones and had four steals, Musselman said he did not feel the ejection was a factor in the outcome. Mike James scored a career-high 16 points for the Heat, who have beaten the Warriors six straight times. The Warriors have lost eight straight visits to Miami since November 24, 1993. They scored a season-low 34 points in the first half and trailed by 19 at the break. "We cannot let a team get a 19-point lead," said forward Antawn Jamison, who led the Warriors with 25 points. "I don't care who they are. The odds of coming back are very slim in that case. We did a good job in the third quarter and ultimately brought the lead down to one, but we still needed to do a better job." Golden State opened the fourth quarter with a 7-0 spurt to get back into the game, but never got closer than four points after Arenas was ejected.
