Game Story

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Lindsey Hunter scored 13 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter and overtime as the Toronto Raptors snapped a four-game losing streak with a 122-117 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. Hunter, who played for the Bucks two seasons ago, hit a 3-pointer with 1.5 seconds left in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime, then scored seven points during the Raptors' decisive 12-2 run. "They hit some big shots, but we just didn't finish the game off defensively," said Bucks guard Michael Redd, who failed to contest Hunter's shot at the end of regulation. "It's frustrating to let guys from other teams get hot on us. Losses like this should have been a wake-up call 10 games ago." Toronto dressed only 10 players but had seven score in double figures. Voshon Lenard led the Raptors with 23 points and added a key pass to set up a 3-pointer by Hunter in the extra session. "I kind of like my role as the designated big-shot taker," Hunter said. "We had a sense of urgency. We had to stop the bleeding now, not later. I know we are on the road and they are a really talented team, but we had to have this game." Lenard had six assists to tie a season high as the Raptors snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Bucks. Milwaukee has lost six of its last eight games. "This is the toughest loss for me this season," Bucks coach George Karl said. "We had plenty of opportunities. We just refused to play defense down the stretch. We played loose with no defensive commitment in the fourth and overtime, and it cost us the game." The Bucks, who led most of the game but never by more than eight points, jumped out to a six-point edge in overtime before the Raptors came back. Ray Allen led Milwaukee with a season-high 37 points but could not get the ball for a potential game-tying shot with 14 seconds left. Since Allen, who made four 3-pointers, was not open, Milwaukee went to Tim Thomas for a tying 3-pointer. But he also was well-guarded and Jerome Williams stripped the ball. Morris Peterson scored the last of his 21 points at the free-throw line to seal the victory. "You know (Milwaukee) can make big shots," Toronto coach Lenny Wilkens said. "We got the stops in the end when we needed it and everyone that played gave a great effort." Toronto had to play good defense at the end of regulation and did as the Raptors prevented the Bucks from attempting a game-winning shot after Hunter's equalizing 3-pointer. Sam Cassell scored 21 points for Milwaukee but hurt the Bucks when he committed a flagrant foul with 20 seconds left in overtime. With Milwaukee trailing, 115-114, Cassell all but tackled Hunter as the Raptors started a fast break. Hunter made both of his free throws and the Raptors took a four-point lead on the ensuing possession when Alvin Williams hit 1-of-2 from the line.
