Game StoryAUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- The one-man show of the Cleveland Cavaliers was outdone by the depth of the Detroit Pistons. Richard Hamilton scored 27 points and reserve Corliss Williamson had four of his 19 in the final 52 seconds of overtime as the Pistons rallied for their sixth straight victory, a 109-107 win over the Cavaliers, who wasted Ricky Davis' 42 points. Davis became the first player in franchise history to have three 40-point games in a season, doing it in a span of two weeks. But he had little help down the stretch. Cleveland wasted a six-point lead in the final minute of regulation and a four-point edge in the extra session en route to its 13th straight road loss. Detroit swept the home-and-home series with its second overtime victory over Cleveland in three days. The Pistons had gone 106 regular season games without an extra session before Wednesday's 111-106 victory at Gund Arena. "We had gone more than 100 games without an overtime and then play two unbelievable ones in a row," Detroit coach Rick Carlisle said. "It's emotionally draining to go through nights like this but not as draining when you win. Cleveland played two great games and they have nothing to show for it. We're very happy. I'm sure they're just as disappointed." Hamilton made 1-of-2 free throws to start overtime. Davis responded with five straight points on a three-point play and a pair of foul shots for a 105-101 edge with 3:57 to go. Detroit's Ben Wallace had a follow dunk and - after the teams traded baskets - Hamilton and Williamson each made a pair of free throws to forge a 107-107 tie with 51.5 seconds left. Wallace blocked rookie Dajuan Wagner's shot at the other end and Williamson made a running hook shot over DeSagana Diop with 7.2 seconds left. "I was just going to go to the basket hard and maybe try to dunk it," Williamson said. "If I didn't make the shot, maybe I'd get fouled. But the shot fell for me." Davis, who forced some ill-advised shots in overtime, gave up the ball on the final possession, but Jumaine Jones missed a wide-open 3-pointer at the buzzer. "(Davis) didn't have that much space, that's why he passed it," said Pistons forward Clifford Robinson. "He did the right thing by passing, he found a wide-open shooter." Wallace collected 11 points, 19 rebounds and four blocks for the Pistons, who had six players in double figures and improved to 11-2 at the Palace of Auburn Hills. "What a job our team did hanging in," Carlisle said. "I thought Cleveland played great and deserved the win the game every bit as much as we did. We just got fortunate and made a couple of great plays near the end." Robinson had 15 points and eight rebounds and reserve Chucky Atkins added 13 points as Detroit saw its bench outscore its counterparts, 42-7. Davis made 13-of-25 shots and 14-of-15 free throws. He collected eight rebounds and seven assists while committing only two turnovers. "Ricky was outstanding," Cleveland coach John Lucas said. "I thought he did a lot of good things for a long time. We're just young and growing. We're not there yet. We make a lot of young, rookie mistakes. We have so much teaching to do." Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 20 points, Carlos Boozer added 13 and Wagner finished with 14 on 5-of-15 shooting. Cleveland was hurt down the stretch by the loss of Ilgauskas and Boozer as both fouled out in the final 2 1/2 minutes of regulation. "We're all frustrated," Ilgauskas said. "We've been losing a lot of close games. We should've won this game. As young as we are, it's going to be hard." The Cavaliers took an 89-85 lead on Wagner's 3-pointer - his final basket - with just under five minutes left in regulation. The Pistons did not get closer than three points until the final 15 seconds. Cleveland had a 98-92 lead with 60 seconds to go after Davis, Wagner and Milt Palacio each made 1-of-2 free throws on consecutive possessions. Hamilton answered with a baseline jumper. After a turnover by Davis, Atkins buried a 3-pointer from the left corner to bring the Pistons within 98-97 with 12 seconds remaining. Davis made two free throws at 10.1 seconds, but Cleveland followed with a huge defensive mistake. Hamilton drew three defenders as he crossed half-court with the ball and found a wide-open Chauncey Billups, who pulled up and buried a 3-pointer with 3.9 seconds on the clock. "We were supposed to foul after (Davis) made the free throws," Lucas said. "But we didn't get up to foul and ended up giving Chauncey a three. That cost us the game. That's the one that got away from us."
