Game Story

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Kevin Garnett had his third triple-double of the season to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to their seventh straight win over the Chicago Bulls, 113-100. Garnett collected 25 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists for his ninth career triple-double. "I didn't even know I had it," he said. Rasho Nesterovic and Troy Hudson added 23 points apiece for Minnesota, which has not lost to the Bulls since April 3, 1998. Chicago climbed within 62-60 just under four minutes into the third quarter before Garnett scored nine points to fuel a 23-2 run. The Timberwolves' 23-point lead was their biggest of the game as they outscored the Bulls, 31-21, in the period. "We had plenty of shots," Bulls coach Bill Cartwright said. "You hope you will make a shot. (Minnesota's zone defense) affected us. We were discouraged because we could not make a shot." Garnett had 11 points in the third quarter, while Nesterovic added nine and Hudson had seven. "We just had to turn it up on them in the third quarter to take control," said Wolves guard Kendall Gill, who had just two points in the period but finished with 17. Chicago got to 85-69 heading to the final quarter, but Minnesota restored its 23-point cushion and the Bulls got no closer than 11 points the rest of the way. Jalen Rose scored 22 points and Jamal Crawford added a career-high 20 off the bench for Chicago. "This was bittersweet," Crawford said. "I wanted to win." Garnett had 11 points in the first half as Minnesota led by as many as 14 points. But the Bulls hung around, narrowing the gap to two before heading into the locker room with a 54-48 deficit. The Wolves shot 48 percent (43-of-89) and had a 54-39 rebounding advantage. Gary Trent swept 12 boards and scored 10 points for Minnesota. Chicago got 16 points from rookie Jay Williams and 12 from Tyson Chandler. But the Bulls missed 8-of-20 free throws and were outscored from the line, 24-12.
