Game StoryCLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Ron Artest scored 18 of his 23 points in the first half and Al Harrington also had 23 as the Indiana Pacers crushed the Cleveland Cavaliers, 113-89. Indiana took the lead early in the first quarter and never looked back. In the second period, Jeff Foster made a free throw, Artest sank a basket and a 3-pointer and Ron Mercer hit two jumpers to extend the cushion to 46-29 advantage with 6:39 remaining. Cleveland got as close as 62-51 in the third quarter, but the Pacers sank four 3-pointers in a 94-second span - the last three by Reggie Miller - to open a 74-54 lead with 5:48 to go. "When Reggie makes those, it's different because you never know when it's going to stop," Artest said. "I love being on this team. I like seeing him hit threes." Miller netted 17 points, despite missing his first six 3-point attempts, and Mercer contributed 14 for the Pacers, who made 22-of-24 free throws and snapped a three-game road losing streak. "We made a run in the third quarter and then Reggie hits one," Cavaliers coach John Lucas said. "We are so young. I had a player tell me he missed six of them. But that's Reggie Miller, he's not going to miss them all. Then he hits three out of four." Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 21 points and Ricky Davis collected 17 as the Cavaliers suffered their fifth loss in six games. They have lost nine of 13 this month and are a league-worst 6-25. Austin Croshere scored 13 points and Brad Miller had 10 and 11 rebounds for the Pacers, who shot 48 percent (41-of-86) from the field and forced 19 turnovers. Artest and Jamaal Tinsley, who had 12 assists, each collected four steals. While leading scorer and rebounder Jermaine O'Neal out for the fourth straight game due to a sprained left knee, the Pacers had little trouble with the lowly Cavs. Indiana took the lead for good, 10-9, midway through the first quarter on Reggie Miller's free throw and cruised to a 60-40 halftime lead. Cleveland came out of the locker room hot, scoring 11 of the first 13 points to close within 62-51 on Ilgauskas' dunk with 7:48 left. Artest answered with a 3-pointer and, after Davis countered with a jumper, Reggie Miller sank three 3-pointers while the Cavs managed just a free throw by Ilgauskas. "We didn't know when that run was going to be. We just stayed with it mentally, and maybe we needed that to wake back up," Artest said. "The law of averages said I was going to make one sooner or later," Miller added. The first-place Pacers improved to 8-2 against Central Division opponents and 8-7 on the road. It was their ninth straight victory in Cleveland since April 18, 1998. "We're a ways away from being what they are," Lucas said. "We have to get physically and mentally stronger. I've got a lot of work to do to get our guys mentally stronger, and we have to understand this is a serious business." The Cavaliers have been beaten by at least 10 points an NBA-high 15 times this season.
