Game StoryPHOENIX (Ticker) -- Stephon Marbury scored 41 points and rookie Casey Jacobsen scored all 12 of his points in the fourth quarter as the Phoenix Suns dealt the Dallas Mavericks consecutive losses for the first time this season, 111-106. "It was awesome, just awesome," Suns coach Frank Johnson said. "It was an amazing performance by him. When it looked as though we had no energy, no life, and he put life in every last one of us." "This is a big win for us," Marbury added. "Anytime you beat a team like Dallas, it is a great win, great confidence booster." Steve Nash scored a season-high 32 points, but it was not enough for Dallas, which made just one basket in the final five minutes and was outscored, 33-21, in the fourth period. "It's disappointing, but maybe this is what we need," Nash said of the back-to-back losses. "Maybe we need to learn a lesson. We need to play better defense." Jacobsen gave Phoenix the lead for good with 1:55 left when he made a pair of free throws. It was part of an 8-0 run that gave the Suns a 107-102 lead on a pair of foul shots by Shawn Marion with 13 seconds left. Joe Johnson iced the win by hitting a pair of free throws with five seconds left. He scored a season-high 20 points. "To see the two young fellows, Casey and Joe, come up big and be in situations like this where they perform because they had been struggling, it just lets you know that they are capable of hitting big shots and making big plays," Frank Johnson said. Dallas led 85-78 after three quarters but lost for the third time this season when leading entering the fourth quarter. The Mavericks shot just 23 percent (6-of-26) from the field in the final period. Marbury added 11 assists and did not commit a turnover to lift the Suns to their 11th consecutive home victory. "No turnovers, and a great game like that, you don't really have to look to far to see it was a great game," Mavericks coach Don Nelson said. "We were unable to contain him, but we aren't alone. Everyone has trouble containing him." Marbury shot 15-of-28 from the field and 4-of-6 from 3-point range. Phoenix shot 53 percent (10-of-19) from the arc. "Of course, he got us going," Marion said. "They couldn't deal with him, and I had to put the clamp on Dirk Nowitzki tonight, and it was a great effort by everybody." Nowitzki collected 20 points and 14 rebounds, but had only six points and four rebounds in the second half. Dallas lost for the fourth time in nine road games against Western Conference opponents. "It's tough out here in the West, on the road," Nelson said. "We played two good home teams and I thought we competed tonight, but we didn't do enough to win." Phoenix has the fifth-best home record in the league at 17-3.
