Game StoryINDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- The Indiana Pacers relied on their two All-Stars to get the second half of the season started on a winning note. Jermaine O'Neal scored 28 points and Brad Miller pumped in 25 as the Pacers resumed their winning ways at Conseco Fieldhouse with a 107-96 victory over the last-place Cleveland Cavaliers. O'Neal and Miller led six scorers in double figures as the Pacers improved to 23-3 at home, where they have split their last four following a 14-game winning streak. "The first game out of the break, it's always a different game, your timing and rhythm come and go in spurts," said Indiana coach Isiah Thomas, who was back on the bench after a two-game suspension. "I thought Brad and Jermaine carried us through the night, and Jamaal (Tinsley) was great." Indiana held a 56-46 halftime advantage and never trailed thereafter half en route to its fourth straight victory over the hapless Cavaliers. The win, coupled with a loss by New Jersey, moved the Pacers to the top of the Eastern Conference standings with a 35-15 record. Cleveland trailed by as many as 15 points in the final quarter before cutting the deficit to 99-92 on a bucket by Ricky Davis with 2:42 remaining. But Miller was fouled making a jumper and hit the free throw to restore the Pacers' double-digit bulge. Jumaine Jones went 5-for-5 from 3-point range and scored a season-high 25 points and Davis added 23, but the Cavaliers could not avoid an eighth straight road loss. Tinsley scored 17 points and Ron Artest added 11, while Al Harrington and Ron Mercer contributed 10 apiece off the bench for the Pacers, who shot 47 percent (46-of-98) from the floor. O'Neal and Miller combined to shoot 23-of-38. "We've played that way all year, we sort of help carry the team sometimes," O'Neal said. "If I'm not playing well, he is. If he isn't, I am. And this team really needs that." Artest saw his first action since being suspended for four games for his actions during a victory at Miami on January 27. "They did try (to bait me) tonight, but I wasn't going to let them," Artest said. "I just let it go." O'Neal scored 16 points and Tinsley 13 in the first half. "We feel that we can beat anyone ... with our full team," O'Neal said. "We need to do what we do and stay focused." O'Neal paced a 9-2 first-quarter run with four points as the Pacers took a 20-10 advantage on Tinsley's layup with 5:20 to go. They had a 33-20 cushion after one period and led by as many as 17 points in the second quarter. All-Star Zydrunas Ilgauskas collected 18 points and 12 rebounds and Chris Mihm chipped in a season-high 12 points in 17 minutes for the Cavaliers, who held a 47-43 rebounding edge but committed 21 turnovers to Indiana's 11. "Well, they're the best team in the East," Ilgauskas said. "We got down early, we tried to come back, but it's tough to do when you have 21 turnovers." Cleveland, which surprised Houston on Wednesday, failed in a bid to post consecutive victories for the first time this season.
