Game StoryPORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) -- Glenn Robinson missed a potential tying shot with 13 seconds left as the Atlanta Hawks were beaten by the Portland Trail Blazers, 89-86. The Hawks' star scored 24 points and was 10-of-23 from the field but missed perhaps his easiest shot of the night when it mattered most. Robinson was off from about 10 feet on the left after Bonzi Wells sprawled to the floor but failed to draw a charge. "When Dog went up for that shot, I thought we were going to overtime," Atlanta coach Terry Stotts said. The Hawks never led but forged a 66-66 tie 46 seconds into the fourth quarter when Jason Terry dunked off a fast break. Portland answered with an 11-2 run to take a 77-68 lead with 6:43 to play. "We started to press a little bit," Trail Blazers coach Maurice Cheeks said. "But we'll take any win at this point." Rasheed Wallace, who led the Trail Blazers with 24 points and nine rebounds, had four points during the run and capped it with a jumper. Wallace was 10-of-18 from the field but was not Portland's top shooter. Zach Randolph chipped in 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting off the bench. He also grabbed nine boards, including five on the offensive end. "Zach did a good job tonight," Wallace said. "He stepped up when we needed him to. He's out there playing hard and getting physical. It was great for him to have a big game tonight." The Hawks shot 6-of-13 from 3-point range, but Terry, who was 2-of-4, opted to drive for a layup after Wallace missed from the line. Atlanta trailed, 87-86, but never got a chance to try for the lead after Pippen made a pair of free throws with 3.8 seconds left. "I was looking to kick," Terry said. "I was looking to drive all the way and suck the defense in, but they stayed with the shooters. It was good defense on their part. I had to take the layup at that point. To dribble back would have taken too much time." Terry had 13 points and eight assists but committed five of Atlanta's 19 turnovers. He also made just 1-of-3 free throws as the Hawks clicked at just 63 percent (12-of-19) from the stripe. Shareef Abdur-Rahim had 14 points and 11 rebounds for Atlanta. Dion Glover nailed 3-of-4 3-pointers and scored 13 points. Portland raced to a 29-17 lead after one quarter, but the Hawks climbed within 48-40 at halftime. They trailed by four points heading to the final period.
