Game StoryDALLAS (Ticker) -- The shorthanded Memphis Grizzlies had a lead against the NBA's best team until their lack of depth caught up with them. Dirk Nowitzki scored 13 of his 28 points in the decisive third quarter and Adrian Griffin added a season-high 17 points off the bench as the Dallas Mavericks rolled to a 114-87 victory over the Grizzlies. Memphis has lost the last 11 meetings with Dallas and had little chance of ending the slide with three key players sidelined. Forward Lorenzen Wright was not with the team due to a death of his 11-month-old daughter and guards Mike Miller and Michael Dickerson did not make the trip due to injuries. Despite their lack of players, the Grizzlies had a 59-52 lead with 9:33 left in the third quarter. But the Mavericks responded with a 19-3 run, highlighted by 10 points from Nowitzki. "That has been our story all year, those runs where nobody can stop us," Dallas coach Don Nelson said. "We get the ball in the open court and we can start making shots and there is a rhythm to our game that is unstoppable." "We were late on a lot of our defensive rotations in the third quarter," Memphis coach Hubie Brown said. "I give them credit because they had to make the shots even though we were late getting there. Our coverage was lacking, but they still had to make the shots." Nowitzki made 5-of-10 shots in the third quarter, including 3-of-4 3-pointers. Eduardo Najera collected five points and six rebounds - five offensive - in the period, providing a spark for the sluggish Mavs. "I thought our intensity wasn't there," Najera said. "I realized that I had to come in and provide energy. I tried to bring the intensity level up. It worked pretty well in the third quarter. A few of those rebounds led to big threes and big buckets." "Najera came in and gave them a major spark," Brown said. "There was no doubt that we couldn't handle him. " The Mavericks had an 80-66 lead entering the fourth quarter and scored 34 points over the final 12 minutes. Griffin had 13 points on 6-of-6 shooting in the final period. Activated from the injured list before the game, Griffin made 8-of-8 shots in 21 minutes as Dallas avoided a three-game losing streak. Najera, who missed Thursday's loss to Sacramento, collected 10 points and 10 rebounds in his return. "Eduardo is just a glue guy, a guy that - when the other team isn't paying attention - he makes them pay," Mavs point guard Steve Nash. "He plays with heart and is able to set his teammates up with screens or all the little dirty things. He's a great addition to our team." "Welcome back Eddie and Grif," Nelson added. "It was nice to have those guys in the lineup, healthy, looking good, doing things that make us win." Michael Finley had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Mavericks, who shot 50 percent (45-of-91) from the floor and made 8-of-18 3-pointers. Dallas committed just 10 turnovers but scored 27 points off 19 miscues by Memphis. Pau Gasol scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Stromile Swift added 16 and nine for the Grizzlies, who have not defeated the Mavericks since April 16, 2000. Shane Battier had 12 points and Wesley Person 11 for Memphis, which shot just 39 percent (27-of-70), including 2-of-14 from 3-point range.
