Game Story

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- Jason Richardson had a huge second half to help the Golden State Warriors snap a four-game losing streak. Richardson scored 20 of his 29 points in the second half to lift the Warriors to a 101-91 victory over the Miami Heat. "It was a very important game tonight, the whole team wanted to win," Richardson said. "We wanted to go out there and put it all on the line and get this win. We had a few games we should have won." Clifford Robinson scored 21 points, Erick Dampier added 16 and 10 rebounds while Mike Dunleavy had 12 and a season-high 14 rebounds for the Warriors. Miami held a 53-52 lead early in the third quarter before Golden State went on a 21-4 run to build a 73-57 lead with 5:03 remaining. Richardson and Dunleavy each scored seven points during the spurt. "We just didn't play good defense," said Heat forward John Wallace, who scored 14 points. "It was too easy. It wasn't like they went on a run making tough shots, they went on a run because of our lack of defense." "In the third quarter we did not give them second chance points and we did not give them easy layups," Warriors coach Eric Musselman said. "Once we limited them to one shot it really helped us." Lamar Odom scored 20 points for the Heat, who fell to 1-7 against the Western Conference. Nick Van Exel missed his second straight game with a sore knee. Speedy Claxton replaced him in the starting lineup and had 12 points and four assists, running an offense that shot 47 percent (37-of-78). "Our defense was abominable," Heat coach Stan Van Gundy said. "They had us spread out and we could not keep the ball in front of us." Robinson scored 16 of his 21 points in the first half as Golden State built a 52-51 lead. His 3-pointer at 7:24 of the first period was the 1,000th of his career. "That is just part of the game," Robinson said. "That is part of being in the position where I have just taken a lot of them." Miami's Eddie Jones, who had scored at least 20 points in all but two games this season, was held to just eight on 3-of-13 shooting.
