Game StoryATLANTA (Ticker) -- Vince Carter capped a dazzling night by hitting a jumper with one second left in overtime as the Toronto Raptors rallied for a 99-97 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. Carter scored 43 points, including 33 after halftime, to tie a Philips Arena record. He also had 43 points in his previous visit to Atlanta on March 8. "We don't quit," said Carter, whose team trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half. "We just play until the end because you never know." With a foul to give, the Hawks took one against Carter with 4.3 seconds left in the extra period. But on the ensuing inbounds pass, Carter was left open on the right baseline and drilled an 18-footer to give the Raptors their second straight road win. Atlanta's Dion Glover slipped, freeing Carter. The Hawks were unable to get off a shot on their final possession. "(Carter) got hot," Atlanta center Theo Ratliff said. "It's not the first time he's got hot on us. He likes coming here. He likes playing against the Hawks." Atlanta took a 70-62 lead after three periods, but Carter scored 16 points in the fourth quarter, forcing overtime with a spectacular spin move and foul shot to complete a three-point play with 13 seconds left. Starting on the right wing, Carter drove past Glover, spun in the lane and flipped the ball off the backboard while getting fouled by Ratliff. "I was just trying to make the play," Carter explained. "We needed two points and I was trying to get fouled." "You just saw another Vince Carter performance at Philips Arena," Hawks coach Terry Stotts said. "I think his last 10 or 12 points were tough shots that were contested. He just carried them." Carter came up with a huge defensive play on the ensuing possession, soaring to block Jason Terry's shot with one second left. "For him to make the plays he did down the stretch, including the defensive block at the end, that's what he gets paid max money for," Toronto coach Kevin O'Neill said. "And that's what he did. He played like a max player." Shareef Abdur-Rahim had a season-high 30 points and 13 rebounds for the Hawks, who were without guard Stephen Jackson. He sprained his left ankle during pregame warmups. "It's not that bad, but it started to swell up a bit," Jackson said. "I should be back by Friday."
