Game Story

CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- LeBron James may be the league's best rookie, but he is far behind Chris Bosh in wins. Vince Carter scored 22 points and Bosh added 14 as the Toronto Raptors extended their season-high winning streak to five games with a 100-93 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. The 18-year-old James was the first overall pick in the draft and came into the league with an immense amount of hype. Meanwhile, the 19-year-old Bosh was chosen fourth and was a virtual unknown. Both are having strong seasons, but it is Bosh that is learning what it's like to win in the NBA. Toronto is in the midst of its longest winning streak since March 22-April 9, 2002 and is unbeaten in five games since acquiring Jalen Rose, Donyell Marshall and Lonny Baxter in a five-player trade with the Chicago Bulls. The Raptors took the lead for good after closing the third quarter with an 11-4 run. Jalen Rose scored five of his 20 points during the burst, which gave Toronto a 79-73 lead. "It is great to have Jalen Rose because we try to have one of those guys (Carter or Rose) out there all the time," Toronto coach Kevin O'Neill said. "(Rose) really took over the game for an extended period of time, then Vince took over at the end and made good made plays. When people start adjusting to one of them, then we just go to the other one." Rose had 12 points in the third quarter, including 10 in the final 3 1/2 minutes. "I was just trying to be aggressive," he said. "Anytime you play on a team that has weapons on it like Vince Carter and Donyell Marshall, I just try to pick and choose my spots. Today they came in the second half and I just tried to be aggressive when the game got close." The Cavaliers pulled within 85-81 with just under eight minutes left, but Carter responded with consecutive baskets and sank a jumper with 4:52 left to give the Raptors their largest lead at 94-84. Cleveland scored seven straight points, pulling within 94-91 on a three-point play by James. Bosh followed in a miss by Rose with one minute left to seal the game. James had 18 points and five rebounds and Bosh finished with 14 and seven. Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 17 points Ira Newble added season-high 16 and 10 rebounds for Cleveland, which lost for the ninth time in 10 games. We're not going to give up," James said. "That's one thing we've learned. We've come together as a family and we have the opportunity to win every game we play in. There's no room for giving up.
