Game Story

ATLANTA (Ticker) -- Shammond Williams scored 12 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter as the Orlando Magic stole a victory from Jason Terry and the Atlanta Hawks, 105-102. Atlanta trailed, 97-96, with just over 40 seconds left when Williams stole the ball from Terry. Williams was intentionally fouled by Terry and hit two free throws with 40 seconds left, and a steal and free throw by Drew Gooden sealed the win. "It was the most disappointing loss of the season for us," Terry said. "It came down to that one play when the defender took the ball from me, and I can't let that happen." Williams hit 8-of-9 free throws - all in the fourth quarter - and finished with seven assists. Tracy McGrady led the Magic with 30 points and Juwan Howard added 20 as they bounced back from Friday's 99-95 loss to the New Jersey Nets. Orlando has won three of four following a 19-game losing streak. "It showed the character in this team, just keeping our composure when we were down," McGrady said. "We just gave ourselves a chance to win the ballgame." McGrady's jumper with 46 seconds left put Orlando up for good, 97-96. That came 13 seconds after Terry committed another costly turnover with a backcourt violation. Shareef Abdur-Rahim scored 25 points, Jackson added 20 and Dion Glover 19 for the Hawks, who have lost seven of their past eight games. Terry finished with 15 points and three turnovers. "We need to make buckets and get stops," Abdur-Rahim said. "That's what if comes down to. You can't nitpick every game." Atlanta used an early 23-2 run to take control but allowed Orlando back in the game by committing turnovers. "We had some bad turnovers throughout all game, especially when you look at they were in a zone," Abdur-Rahim said. "It's maintaining mental concentration or whatever." McGrady had four of 11 steals by the Magic, who scored 25 points off 19 turnovers by the Hawks. Jackson had six turnovers while Glover committed three. Atlanta led, 96-88, with 3:24 to go, before Orlando went on a 11-0 run to send the Hawks to their third straight loss. "We were up (eight) with three minutes to go," Abdur-Rahim said. "That's not the ballgame. Just mistakes. Just coming down the stretch, it's mistakes. We didn't make plays; that's what it came down to."
