Game StoryTORONTO (Ticker) -- Rookie Dwyane Wade hit a jump hook in the lane with 28 seconds remaining as the Miami Heat edged the Toronto Raptors, 90-89, for just their second road victory of the season. The basket by Wade, who scored 23 points, put Toronto ahead and the Raptors survived a flurry in the final seconds to improve to just 2-11 away from home. Vince Carter, who was limited to 23 minutes due to a sore Achilles heel and foul trouble, missed a fallaway jumper in the lane with six seconds remaining. The clock ran out during the scramble for the rebound. "December's been a month for our team where the continuity is starting to come," Wade said. "Our whole team is back now so we're able to do our thing." Donyell Marshall scored 25 points for the Raptors, who built an 11-point lead early in the third quarter. But Miami dominated inside, holding a 25-6 edge in second-chance points and a 44-26 edge in points in the paint. Brian Grant recorded 19 points and 13 rebounds and Lamar Odom also had a double-double with 17 and 16. The Heat outrebounded the Raptors, 49-37. "It was a good win on the road," Grant said. "We didn't want to let them beat us from the perimeter. We were able to contain Vince, which was a key to the game." Carter finished with 12 points, making just 3-of-12 shots. He went to the bench with just over five minutes left in the third quarter after picking up his fourth foul and did not return until just 2:03 to play. The contest featured a bizarre moment with 44 seconds left when Carter was accidently elbowed in the head during a collision with Miami coach Stan Van Gundy. "I apologized that he ran into me but it's just one of those things," Van Gundy said. After returning, Carter hit his first shot - a turnaround jumper on the left wing - to give Toronto an 89-86 lead with 1:54 left. Those were the final points for the Raptors. After Eddie Jones' turnaround jumper pulled the Heat within a point, Carter had a shot blocked by Wade and missed a jumper on the left baseline. "It's not my ankle, it's my Achilles," Carter said. "It has been hurting me for three years. It started flaring up and feeling uncomfortable. I knew something was up when I couldn't get warm. I'll just play anyway." The Raptors have dropped two straight following a season-high five-game winning streak. Carter also missed a last-second shot in Friday's 114-111 defeat at Boston. "(Rebounding and second-chance points) really got us tonight," Raptors coach Kevin O'Neill said. "We had several good stops at the end where we didn't clean up the boards."
