Game Story

ATLANTA (Ticker) -- The Golden State Warriors climbed over .500. The Atlanta Hawks continued to self-destruct. Mike Dunleavy scored 25 points and tied a career high with 14 rebounds as the Warriors defeated the Hawks, 98-85, to win consecutive road games for the first time this season. "It got to the point where I brought the ball up a little bit and was able to distribute some and get some other guys going," Dunleavy said. "We just shared the ball real well tonight." Jason Richardson added 22 points for Golden State (12-11), which was coming off a 104-86 victory at New York on Tuesday. Richardson finished 7-of-13 from the field after making just 1-of-6 shots in the first half. He scored 13 points in the third quarter, when the Warriors outscored the Hawks, 31-17, to take control. "It's (getting over .500) very important, especially when we want to consider ourselves a playoff contender," Richardson said. Hawks coach Terry Stotts did not start guard Jason Terry and center Theo Ratliff, who both were late to Wednesday's shootaround. Terry, who played only 16 minutes, was held scoreless, missing his only shot from the field. "We all have to take the blame in what happened tonight," Terry said. "It just didn't happen for us tonight. We all have to get it done together and pointing fingers is not how we are going to get it done." Ratliff ripped the Hawks after Tuesday's 97-79 loss to Miami, telling the Atlanta Journal Constitution that "we go out and play to lose every single night and we don't change what we need to do." Shareef Abdur-Rahim led the Hawks with 16 points and Ratliff and Lee Nailon added 15 apiece. "I think we have to play elemental basketball," Ratliff said. "Fundamental basketball, Basketball 101. Right now, our fundamental skills are looking real bad right now." Golden State led, 49-45, at the intermission but started the third quarter with a 15-1 spurt. Dunleavy had seven points and Nick Van Exel six in the run. "We said at halftime we wanted to get it over with in the third quarter," Van Exel said. "We didn't want them to have any type of momentum."
